Hey great site I've been reading many posts, anyway I recently Bought a 03 Rx-1 I think it was a good deal 4,500 miles new track/studs no apperent damage for $3,150. What I would like to know is would it help to put some of my vipers shocks under this? or even the fronts which are better? I am currently rebuilding the top end of my viper due to it burning up the middle cycl. then I will part with it and just ride the thumper I've read all about how to make it less tippy and handle better thanks to this site, I will be upgrading that stuff next season

RX-1

Hey welcome to the 4strokes! :4STroke:
I too recently made the jump to an 03 rx-1 from a viper and love the difference and im sure you will too!I got my rx midway through last season so this is my second season with it! As far as any of the shocks changing im not exactly sure but i think there all the same beings their both proaction skids from the same era.
If you really wanna make a shock change i would recomend Fox floats or on a cheaper side send your stocks into Pioneer Performance and have them revalve and swap springs for your riding style!
Other mods i have done and love on the Rx1 is an apex seat 6 inch riser and the air intake kit. Ive also done the undertunnel glasspack exhuast that can be found under rockmeister's garage write up. I love it and was much much more cost effective then and aftermarket exhausts and sheds more weight then they do as well.

rx-1

BTW sounds like a pretty good price also!
I picked mine up last year for 3500 with about 3,000miles :rocks:

Do you know if the stock rx-1 shocks are rebuildable, will my 4th wheel kit from my viper fit the rx? from what i've read on hear they viper is rebuildable but not the rx? thanks for the replies :yam: :rocks:

shocks

Pioneer and various other users have told me that the front shocks are.
On the skid theirs are two shocks a smaller one towards the front and a larger one in the middle running horizontal.
ive also been told the the smaller front was rebuildable but the big rear one is the only one on the 03 that is not.
They told me to find a shock off a 05 or newer yammi to replace it because 05s were changed to rebuildibles but i have heard that other variable models may have a rebuildibles as well so if your viper does have it, it would work also on your rx1.
Im like 95% sure your 4th wheel kit should work as well as any other mid wheel kits or mods for the skid.
One other mod i forgot to mention was transfer enhancement kit by MPI this is one kit that needs to be looked over very carefully before you decide on it however.depends on where and what kind of riding you do not for everyday trail use. I was not happy with it until i put a 2" drop braket on the rear and it also requires swithing to an anti-ratchet driver!
But sure did make a diff drag racing: i really hook up and go! and helps manuver the sled in the deep snow, make it that heavy front end four stroke light in the deep stuff!

4th wheel just transfers over. both rear shocks are the same legnth, the fronts are not even close.

is the front suspension stock? if so my take out 11mm swaybar is an upgrade to you if you like flat cornering. i put a 13mm in myself. huge difference although the olins don't hurt either. neither does a set of straight rate springs from 04-05 whitch also help with the tippyness of the sled.

if it still has the cone track and you like some offtrail, you might want to switch it out for your viper one as i hear it sucks in the powder.

there is probably more but you will want to do some of this before asking more questions.

So I probaly should take the big rear shock and switch them out and are you saying the swaybar from the viper will help in cornering will it be a direct fit if I should swap that? Thanks agian

yes to swaping the rear shocks out.

no the viper swaybar does not fit in that sled but a stock take off from any 04+ rx chassis is an improvement over the 03 one.

Traded my 03 Viper-ER with 4k miles last march even-up to a guy on Craigs list for a 03 RX1-ER with 3k miles, he wanted to go back to a two stroke :drink: I love the RX1's and would never go back

rx1

agree with maim on the rear shock as far swaybar i would just order the 13mm sway bar from pioneer just installed mine last month and love it!!
