FRONT END FALLING IN

Hey guys, I made a gt into a mtx this fall with alot of light weight goodies, everthing timbersled, hartman clutch kit, simmons gen 1 ski's, and mpi weightless parking break. Took it out to cook city earlier this month and it did great hill climbing, and in the open but fell flat on it's face in the tree's. Now i don't have a sway bar on it and i am using the stock gt shocks that are pretty soft even on the hardest setting they look nice but i'm thinking i need the fox floats to hold the front end up, and possibly put a sway bar back in it, i would really rather not buy the gen 2 ski's because i heard it was harder to side hill with them. Any thoughts? I know part of the problem is i'm only 175 lbs with all gear on and i am not all muscle to man handle the the beast that is the apex.

I guess I'm not real sure what you need help with. Not sure what "fell flat on its face" means. Is the front end diving down on slow turns in the trees?

I strongly suggest running a sway bar on this sled. The GT shocks should be fine but would need cranked up. Eric

...stand up ride with tall riser, try moving your inside foot back a bit, to shift your weight back into the inside back corner. Gen II's carve fine...just have to be careful if carving hard in less than 6" of powder cuz you might skate up onto the ski edge a bit. Foxes...I think I'm at 67psi.(Dealer set up was 55psi)

Gen II's and stiffer shocks felt much better for my style of riding.

Proper speed...there is always a "sweet spot" speed
to side hill at....depending on steepness, snow consistency, track size etc. etc.. Sometimes it can feel too damm fast and wreckless. At zero speed... everything falls off the mountain, even a feather. Pick your own line, don't follow the kid on the M6. When I'm sidehilling only the back tip of the inside ski is actually touching any snow...everything else is up in the air with the skis pointing outward.

If you're "falling flat" you're trying to steer up the hill, without enough throttle on and the sled is pushing you in a long arc downward.

I have a vector that I did a lot of mods to as well. New lightweight rear (muffler to tail is all new lightweight stuff). My vector was a sweet boondocker until I did all of these mods. Now, not so much. I don't get stuck nearly as much because the jacked up rear allows the track to dig deeper before it beaches on the tunnel. I think taking all of the weight off the tail might have shifted the weight bias forward, which hurts the ability to boondock. Helps hillclimbing, though. I noticed that the timbersled mounting holes raises the tunnel significantly. I am curious about drilling a new mounting hole higher, but am worried about messing it up. Any experience on this would be helpful.
