I removed my rear skid tonight to install the Ulmer Anti-shock rub kit. Yeah, I know I should have been able to install it in the sled, but the rear shock bolt must have been tightened by a gorilla, probably the same one that tightened one of the front pivot arm mounting bolts too! Never would have gotten the shock bolt loose in the sled! (My dealer removed the skid in the spring for some warranty work)
Anyways, when I got the skid out, I noticed the outside bushings on the upper mounts were damaged-the edges were cracked, missing some small pieces of the bushing. I'm hoping the dealer has some new ones in stock so I can get it back in the sled.
Are these bushings that fragile, anything better available? What should I expect to pay for replacements?

I pulled my skid recently and Yes mine were damaged in the same spot as well....my machine has 439 miles!
from what I've learned this happens fairly often as they are worthless plastic...
in a recent talk with bruce at pioneer performance...Delrin bushings are hopefull over the next year...til then it's this cheap plastic crap!

Me too
That's exactly what I was planning on doing-to swap the inside pair to the outside.
EDIT-decided to pick up a couple bushings, price is $8.70 each! Ouch.

Bushings
Doesn't take much to damage the edges of the bushings in removing or installing the skid. The price of them isn't cheap either.
Any aftermarket bushings available for the mono skid yet?
Is there a big advantage of having these plastic bushings vs. just a shaft through the tubes like the other manufacturers?
What's the trick to NOT damage the bushings when installing the skid?

Next year for the good bushings. I just hope they don't force you to buy a suspension set or kit. These particular set are very easy to damage. I have screwed them up on both my monoshock sleds. I just reused them as well as Bruce from Pioneer said they would be out for 08.

Yeah... I'm hoping for hood bushings for the front and rear suspensions before next season. My several year old viper with stock bushings is tighter then my 1 year old Apex.
