Front Shock Question

There are two silver lock collars on the Apex GT. One of them is on the top side of the threads. The other is down against the spring. Seems to me both should be down against the spring and against each other. Can someone give me an idea as to which way it should be! Thanks

The bottom lock collar locks the black adjuster that is below it.
Do not need two.
That being said, I will be interested in knowing what is the purpose of the top ones.

The only thing I can figure is they must be there to hold pressure in the opposite direction when making adjustments. I can't seem to find any information in the manual on this.

On another note, how does your wife like the Vector GT

Much diff between it and the Apex.?

Bot my wife an Apex GT, have not ridden yet.

I am worried I bot her too much sled. She is not that strong, she had a stroke a couple of years ago. She is coming off a 01 700 Deluxe Yamaha.

Your wife driven your GT? If so how did she find it?

Well she likes it more cause she doesn't have to use as much strength. My wife is little also and quite weak in comparison to some women. She has only had one ride on it so far this year. The one ride she was still having problems with her shingles. It ended up being a very difficult ride. The Vector GT has a great ride and is easy to steer. No need to put extra carbide on the front ski's. Last year she rode the srx while I rode the Viper. She has commented on it feeling tippy but thats just a matter of getting more saddle time. If we get some more snow we will be able to give you a better assesment. Good Luck!

Good question....I've been wondering the same thing. I even looked at the GT photo that Yamaha has on their website to make sure it was supposed to be that way (it is). I did notice it was tight against the upper part, but still not sure why it's even there.

Yeah especially since they are trying to reduce weight. Not that thats such a big weight savings.

That is what I was told today...

It locks the threaded body to the top of the shock.

If you loosen it, bad stuff can happen....!!!


I don't know why they didn't use two of the aluminum nuts on the top of the spring because that thin black steel nut is hard to get the wrench on...
