I'd like to install zerks in the pivots for the front a arms and spindles. I was wondering if anyone sells a bolt kit with the zerks already installed? Call me lazy, but I really don't feel like having to drill and tap the stock bolts.
Thanks,
Tom
RedPhazer,
I assume you were talking about something like these. I have thought the same thing. Any machinist's out there looking to make some kits and money. It seems it would be easier than drilling and tapping the a-arms. I think right angle fittings would work the best for the Phazer. Anyone have any thoughts.
Thanks,
Russ

Those look like the ticket. Nice find 08rtx. I used to run those on my 92 indy440. I'd think they would work great.08RTX said:RedPhazer said:Hello,

You guys will HAVE to drill a hole through the steel collar(not sure if they're hardened) to get those to work. The bolt is not the pivot shaft on Yamahas, the steel collar the bolt goes through is the pivot shaft. The bolt tightens down on the ends of the shaft trapping it between the mounts. The plastic bushings pivot/wear on this steel collar.
Good point.New bolts als
urs at least the long one isnt straight dia.Looks to me to be a stretch bolt like used for torquing the engine head down.Very thin in middle but thicker at both ends.I took my arms off since I had to replace bushings anyway but zerk fitting could be done without removing arms.Just would need to be careful.

If a bushing was drilled like this would it work? I will have to get the front of my sled apart to see what we have to work with. Thanks.

Sorry I called it a bushing, but meant sleeve or collar.

That is what I mean. If you can find the right size, they'd work.
That will work!Nice find.

Thanks for the reply guys. I will keep you posted if I modify mine when I get around to taking it apart, unless someone decides to make some kits. May be easier in the long run just to put the zerks in the a-arms. Thanks again.

you're right, shackle bolts suck. collars aren't hardend steel, plain old mild steel. anyhow the bold locks the bushing wich puts wear between the collar and the outside of the bushing, still a good idea to atleats put some bearing greese on the bolt itself though. a few plain old selftapping greese zerk on the outer collars of your a-arms is more then sufficient to keep the life in your front end assembly.
I think this is one of the most necessary things to do to a phazer with any miles on it. Buy the Ulmer bushing kit, the stock bushing are plastic and wear out rite away. Take off your A-arms drill and tap for zerks and reasemble. Money and time well spent. It is a pretty simple job it will cost you the bushing kit, zerks and a tap,70 to 80 bucks. You will never have to worry about a sloppy front end again!
