Thanks for the info.
Hey Quebec#1 are those the snowtrackers on your skiis? They look like they would make the steering much harder with all those grabbing edges.

Thats a false assumption that everyone makes about the snowtrackers until they try them.apex55 said:Thanks for the info.

Infact they make the machine steer easier in most cases almost like power steering.
With just the single regular carbide setup i seem to fight the machine in most cases but with the snowtrackers its not the case.
They make your front end feel nice and tight on the trails.

Have snowtracker extreme on mine and Love them with 96 studs down the middle. Can't get my arms level tho as springs get too loose. Snowtrackers can cause low speed highsides if not studded (experience talking) but by far the best carbides for the Apex. Steerings not light by any means but Quebec#1 is right on, easier than all other agressive carbides, no fighting and carve like no other.

I don't think that the snow trackers r any harder steering than conventional carbides. I put 2,500 km on mine last year in Quebec and never high sided it once. They still look like brand new except the paint is missing.

Limiter strap has one purpose and it has nothing to do with ride quality!

In order to level your front arms you have to get your shocks SHIMMED/shorten the travel by 5/8" by a rebuilder...I had mine done last year and what a difference it made as Quebecer#1 mentioned earlier...here's a before and after pic.

Hey apltx08 are riding this weekend ? Was up around St-Agathe and trails are getting mighty thin !
I think im going to wait for the next major storm ! Im fed up with gravel roads and potato rocks !
Getting back to the post , Does the Apex Ltx have more travel than mine a 07 gt ? Is that the reason for the shimed front end ?

I haven't been out for over 2 weeks now!!!
some guys wanted to go in the Lac St-Jean area and where told to stay home cuz of lack of snow!APEX'S all have the front end specs, shock is 16 1/2" c/c and got mine shimmed/shorten to 15 7/8" c/c.
Robert from Star Susupension set me up, by doing it this way you can run more preload on your shocks and keeping your arms level, be careful if you don't have enough preload your SPRINGS can come out of place and collapse the suspension and LOSE control...jack your front end off the ground to fully EXTEND your shocks and check your preload to see if your SRINGS stay in place not falling off retainers or coming out of place in anyway.

Would running longer springs also help ?

No the thinking here is if you want to LOWER your COG you have to shorten the travel somewhat and that is why you SHIM your shocks travel so in reality you end up having a longer OE spring...but you still want to run with near zero preload to benefit set-up.

Sorry for all the questions, but here is another. By running the a arms flat lowers the sled. Also shortening the shocks would also. Does this create more bottoming out on the front end and/or taking more hits on the belly of the sled?
I am a believer of making a single adjustment and evaluating it so you know what changes occured with the mods. I ran 320 mile this weekend with the pilots skiis and shaper bars and what a difference. Ii will lower the front for the next ride, which may be awhile seeing as Vermont is near 50 today with a dumping rain.

I did lower my front and have rode about 200 miles so far on many different types of terrain and she still handles the bumps well.
Seems like im a little faster on top ?
Im Happy.

First ride with the suspension dropped and the improvement in handling was exhilarating! Thanks!!
