How do you get to the fuel filters on my RX1. The parts diagram shows them in the fuel tank. The entrance to the tank for the fuel lines is too small to pull the filter back out. Is it that you have to snag them thru the filler and bring them out that way? Thanks

I just did this on my riding partners Rage. Used a coat hanger and PRECISELY ( heavy sarcasm) bent it. Took 3 tries but I got it out. Fuel line was JUST long enough to fish the filter out through the fill opening. I used a small needlenose vice grip to hold it out of the tank while I changed the filter. It would have been a disaster if it slipped back in the tank LOL.

Can you use a store bought filter or does it need to be OEM. Obviously I've not done this and have 6500 miles on my 03. Is it time to replace? Can it be cleaned?
:rocks:

Dan, I was at the dealer picking up slides so I grabbed 1 there. It was 8 bucks but I would have had to have the old filter in hand if I went to NAPA or where ever.Sled has 9,000 mi. on it and was having some fuel starving issues when running WFO on the UP grades. It was pretty gunky looking when I pulled it apart.

Thanks Dave. do you think it is cleanable? I only ask because I do not have a sled dealer very close and do not like to pay shipping on a low priced part.

It's a paper element so I don't think you'd have much luck cleaning it. I'll look tomorrow and try and get the dimensions for you. I remember it BARELY cleared the opening coming out, so diameter is crucial.

dont bother Dave, now that I know its a paper filter, I'll just find another locally from automotive supplier. Thanks for your help.

Ever locate that extra mirror?

Never recieved any confirmation you wanted it. Maybe I missed it LOL!! Left or right? Send me your shipping info and I'll get it out this week!
