I just purchased a 2008 Yamaha Phazer MTX. The fuel was low in the sled when I purchased it, so the flashing warning light and the display showing a flashing gas pump and the fuel level flashing all bars and then none did not concern me at the time. I put in half a tank of fuel when I got home, and the warnings are still flashing.
My first thought is the sending unit in the tank has gone or the display pod is faulty. Has anyone come across this before?

i would think sticking float, fill her up and put some good fuel system treatment in her.. let it sit and then slosh it around a bit..or float could be broken, damaged, or hung up on a fuel line in the tank..do you know if it has fresh plugs??? if it does, who ever did it had to remove the gas tank, the pump, and float would have to come out too.. its pretty easy to get at that stuff, remove seat and some plastics..I have never heard of a faulty gauge pod..

I wonder if the sender is plugged in. I'm not sure what would happen if it wasn't, might send an empty signal. I think the connection is on the top right side of the tank.

Is the sender plug easy to access? I am no mechanic.

Just remove the seat, there are two bolts holding it on. You should then be able to see the connectors for the pump and sending unit.

I had to pull the tank out to see the wire coming from the sender and yes you were correct in assuming it was not plugged in. A quick connect and I'm back in business. Thank you to all that helped.

Good job guys!
