Mobil-1 0W-40 European formula, it has more ZDDP in it

I use Mobile 1 0-40.

I have used Mobil 1 0W30 from day 06 APEX 7500 miles still rinning strong.
Cannot go wrong with Mobil-1 full syn, F1 race cars use this oil there engines are in more stress and spin higher rpm's.

Amsoil full synthetic 0w40 is about the best oil on the market IMO. This is another topic that has been hashed out several times and we will never all agree but the one thing I can assure you of is you will not see an engine failure due to oil as long as you use some type of decent motor oil. The one thing amsoil and other OFF ROAD oils have is more zddp due to the fact that they are off road specific oils they do not have to conform to the epa's rules for on road vehicles like the mobil 1 and other basic vehicle oils. Either way, if you choose a good brand oil you will not see any engine failures due to oil...
When I picked up the mobile1, Canadian tire was out of Amsoil. They had every single oil in stock, except for amsoil. I have an oil change to do before my first ride, and I hope to be running Amsoil this year. Good info about he Off-Road motor oil, Thanks.mr.pitstop said:Amsoil full synthetic 0w40 is about the best oil on the market IMO. Good read ecopter. I agree that its important to use an oil that is designed for off road use, not an automotive oil.. I believe amsoil 0w40 or yamalube to be about the best choice. The biggest downfall with yamalube is you are paying for the "yama" in the name. Obviously yamaha does not produce their own oils. They buy it from a manufacturer and then brand it with their name and sell it to us at a profit, a profit that comes from our pockets. Amsoil produces some of the best synthetic oils in off road motorsports and Id argue it to be better than yamalube and costs about the same.... Either way, any offroad oil is going to protect the motor better than an automotive oil that is designed with the epa and catalytic converters in mind...

Here is the best thread I have found on this forum covering the subject of which synthetic oil to use. After reading this I went with Redline Synthetic.
Check it out.

Please not another boring oil discussion. Where's the 40k mi guy to share his "insight".
Honestly after reading the posts by ecopter and pitstop, I'll be running an oil developed for off road use. I didn't realize there actually was a difference.thephast1 said:Please not another boring oil discussion. Where's the 40k mi guy to share his "insight".

Since the 4-strokes have been on the market from Yamaha, they've indicated in the owner's manual not to use friction modified oils because of the starter clutch. They're hard to find. Just be sure to look closely at the oil container you're purchasing.

FYI
The head mech at one of the dealers I go told me something interesting. Apparently when he was at a Yamaha tech course they told him that Yamalube is relabeled Mobile-1. However I don't know anything more as far as which formulation of the oil one should chose. The "friction moddified" avoidence definately sounds like good advice though.
