I don't own a Nytro, but I am asking this for a friend. He hangs with a guy that has a 05 REV 600HO, which is totally stock and so is the nytro FX and he says the REV stays right with it up to 90 and then it pulls away. He's not very happy. He's got 800 miles on the FX and he just can't believe that 138hp sled is slower than 118hp. I am a little confused as well. I'm thinking he is spinning like crazy? Both sleds are totally stock, no studs, nothing done to them. Does this seem right? I told him to talk to Ulmer, but I'm not sure a clutch kit and gear chnage will help him with no studs. They don't do alot of drag racing, but alot of fast high speed trail riding, like up in Hearst area. They do alot of lake running and roll on races. Any thoughts?

nytro not geared for top end.

You have to remember 4 stroke hp isn't equal with 2 stroke hp. The nytro races in the 600 class. The nytro and the new 600's are very comparable especially with the new poo 600 I have sen them stock for stock beat the Nytro more then the other way around. A lot of it it's in the suspension adjustment and fine tuning.

I find it hard to believe the 05 600 walks away even on the bottom, when mine was stock I could stay ahead of an 08 / 800 doo until about 80-90mph??

Put 10 tooth extrovert drivers, a 1" Hacksaw--run it loose and that problem with 600's will go away.

First, 2-stroke horsepower is the same as 4-stroke horsepower (given they are measured to the same standard). Basically, horsepower is a measure of how fast the available torque is being applied. Horsepower doesn’t make anything move, torque does. Mathematically, horsepower is the derivative with respect to time of the torque curve. Power = dW / dt

The reason why a 2-stroke motor feels different is that its peak torque output is generally confined to a narrow RPM range. When you’ll feel the 2-stroke get on the pipe it is because the system is entering the range of peak torque and therefore maximal power output – the slope of the torque curve just pitched upward increasing the calculated derivative (horsepower).

4-strokes by design have flatter torque curves and therefore don’t have the kick in the pants feel of a 2-stroke to get your attention. Instead they have a long steady pull right from the get-go.

As an example of horsepower and torque: I had an old F150 with the 300-six in it. This motor developed about 140 horsepower and would go from zero to 70 in just under week, but you could pull a house because it had 235 ft-lbs of torque. Drop a 140 hp Nytro motor in this truck and you can be pretty sure that it wouldn’t do much more than make noise. Same horsepower, much less torque.

Secondly, I own an 05 REV 600 HO too, and it will outrun my Nytro on top end by a couple of MPH. However, the 0 to 90 time of the Nytro crushes the REV. Even more impressive to me though is the pull from 40 to 70. The corner-to-corner speed is what I love about the 4-stroke. There’s no waiting, it’s all there right now. I’ve only used the top end speed once; I use the 40 to 70 acceleration between every turn. The REV won’t keep up there. Pick your race.

There has to be something wrong with his sled. I can smoke my buddies 600RevX whenever I feel like it. My buddy even drove my sled and he said his sled doesn't have power like that.

That is weird the only 600 that whacked my vector was an 08 Polaris 600 and that thing is bad fast....but the DOO 600 sdi's are no problem out of the hole or on top end. Makes me wonder if I'll be happy with the XTX next year..

They are even on the bottom up to top end, but at 90 +, the 600 keeps going. The Nytro can only pull 90 on the speedo and the REV is hitting 105, which I know is off, but he is still probably 7-8mph more than the FX. Something is not right.

I can give my buddy a head start and still reel in his 07 REV 600 ho. I'd say something isn't right. Is his sled broken in yet?? It takes some time to get the sled broken in, but when it does....watch out.

A 1.25 ripsaw track has less top end then a .92 camo doo track. Something doesn't sound right for the hole shot though. Is the doo studded? If you don't get a good hole shot, it takes allot of power to make up ground. Also could be a well setup 600 as well. I've seen good running 600s smoke 800s up to the c note. Just the way it is.

Stock Nytros even with the 1.25 Ripsaw will do 98-102 (speedo) all day long
