Horsepower numbers don't seem right....

His is/has been the quickest every single year since 2008. He had the 1st blair morgan mid release 03 mxz 800 & it was way fast until it blew up 3 times.

I was thinking of getting a fuel controller this year. I have a pretty much stock nytro with a Barkers exhaust. I called Tim Barker about getting a replacement end cap for the exhaust after some of the rear plastic melted on it last year. He said no problem just send me some pics and I'll send a new one (was really cool about it). Anyway...after to talking to him he mentions that they are testing their own fuel controller they are gonna make at a resonable cost (cheaper than PCIII he says). He said they were gonna do some testing that week and then they would see where they are. I called back a few weeks later and asked about it. he told me that they used a new sled and that while they didn't get the numbers they wanted they did see an increase in hp. He said with stock sled they were only seeing about 124hp and with the exhaust and fuel controller they were seeing about 130-132hp. He said it was because the sled was new and not broken in. I'm pretty impressed with the gains, but those numbers just don't seem right. But then again I've heard of people getting around 138hp on stock sleds when broke in. What do you think?

Every sled and every dyno read differently. I personally added a barker to my sled during a Dyno session last year. Here are the results

Dyno Results for my 2009 RTX SE

My sled made 146.2 HP at 9200 with CR10EK plugs, K&N Filters, Excel Header into stock muffler, PC111, and ignition module.

With the same setup except change the stock muffler to the Barker and remove the rev limiter it made 150.4 at 9700 RPMs. It also improved the torque by 8 foot pounds at peak and held the torque higher all the way through.

Hey Dirk,
I just installed the Excell header on my Nytro with stock muffler.
Is there a noise or tone difference with the header and stock muffler.

How much louder is the Barker muffler.

Do you need a fuel controller with Excell header and Barker muffler.

We have a guy in our group that buys a new x every year. It,s allways 100% of the time the fastest sled & he can not tune to save his life!
He did pony up to the 1.25 track tho.

Don't understand that, since the 1.25" ripsaw is slower then the 1" which faster on hardpack.

Turk are sure he's not playing dumb on the tuning end or maybe has some dealer tuning support for buying a new sled every year? I know my sled is bone stock and know nothing about making it faster as far as my riding buddies are concerned ~ lol

that was exactly my thoughts.....how could a heavier more air cavatating track be faster in the hardpack..

All of the 800 doo,s in our group have 1.25 tracks as we generally get a lot of snow.

I didn't notice a difference in tone. the Barker is LOUD!!!. A PC isn't required but it optimizes things.

"Loud" should be used as a relative term in this reference. I have ridden with the Barkers for a year now and don't think it is that loud. I ride with a buddies F1000 w/ an MBRP can and mine is nowhere near as loud. At idle mine is quieter, at cruising speed mine is quieter. When you dip in harshly it cranks up but I still believe it has more to do with the rear exit as opposed to the downward firing 2 stroke. JMO.

Were you aware that the Increase of power on the Barker is at 9700 rpm's? we had to remove the rev limiter on my sled to see the power increases with the Barker. It did make more power and torque down low then the Stock muffler but it's loud "by my standards". Plus I didn't want to try to clutch my sled for 9700 rpm's either

the barker with the header was louder than the Hauck husher...but not with the hushers quiet core in (which dirk thought was still too loud) ...
now the barkers quiet core...well the I.D. of it had me concerned,,,a little tight...might hold excess heat in...
