FX Nitro RTX Pricing is outrageous!!!!!!

New prices too much for me this year...that's how I wound up with an RTX..wanted a Nytro for my son, but found a nice guy who is ordering a new Nytro, and a Doo XP (yeah, must be nice!) to complement his new Phazer...apex was all optioned out (mirrors, arm protectors, pan, shock protectors, heated visor thingy, etc) dealer maintained with 1000 miles on...less than 7 grand. Nice sled except for the handwarmers..I think I got a good deal, and sold one of my original RX's for 3500 to a friend...everybody's happy except my dealer..LOL.

I agree and don't agree. It's the whole sport, not yamaha exclusive, shoot it's the entire powersports industry... My R6 msrp'd for over 9k! a 600? So unfortunately you gotta pay to play I guess. Also, while MSRP may be scary it's no wheres near what you'll be able to pick them up for.

I paid 9k for my 06 Attak and that was a deal for having snowchecked it in that year. Considering that msrp is about the same as the Nytro, if I can get one for that or even a little under, then I'm more than happy. I think it'll be just as much if not more of a sled, though the strengths of each are different.

I Hate to say this But 2008 pol iq shift.......$6999 But I can't see going back to a 2smoke or a Polaris. But the price is right. :4STroke:

I believe they will sell a ton of those sleds to people that are not hardcore riders. They will even take away a lot from the Phazer sales. To bad really cause people wont know what they are missing out on by not going to a 4 stroke! ;)!

Come on.... the shift is made to sell cheap for modders who won't have to pay for parts and then throw them away when they customize. It is a gimmick to get the price down. Compare apples to apples if you are going to compare price.

There is actually a reason why it's so cheap though. Crappy shocks, 15 x 121 x .91 track, not exactly the hottest looking sled either:

I actually don't mind the looks, no more lame boy-racer stickers, just sleek and black. If I still trusted 2-strokes (or Polaris's reliablity record), it would probably be one of my potential choices.

Now if you want to make fun of something - the turbo dragon is 580 lbs dry and makes 140 horse?? :jump:
Yamaha is so far ahead with the 4-strokes that the others would need a telescope to see where they are. Another 20lbs off and they'd be damned near perfect imo. :rules

You hit the nail on the head there. They buildt that for exactly what you said.

The only new yamaha you can get up here in canada for 10 g's is a phazer......I think that the 03 rx-1 which i purchased brand new will be my last new yamaha, sold it recently and if you add the things i done to it to make it ride and handle half decent i took a ten thousand dollar loss!! It's not just the Yamahas, guys. All snowmobiles are expensive. And I'll take a $9000 Nytro Fx that will most likely last me for 5 years than a 2-stroke that will only last for 4-6k miles before it starts exploding, too.

Keep this in mind:

There are many other hobbies out there - while I will get back into the sport someday because I love it that much, it is not the end of the world. If you have other priorites, then do them. This is a luxury.

Magnesium/titanium sleds that last for 5 years and 15k+ miles are going to last longer than a 2-stroke that goes for 4-6k miles then starts needing rebuilds.

Don't snowcheck a sled. Wait until the next spring and save yourself 1500+.

Buy used, save even more. I understand that it is frustrating to see these prices go up and up and up especially as we get crappier winters, but you don't need to buy a 10k sled to enjoy the sport. Some of my fondest memories are on that crappy VMax I used to own.... :ORC

If I don't sell my 07 RTX this spring, (see classified, 700 miles $6900 by the way..LOL) I will hold it till fall. I think when the leftovers are all bought up, and people start pricing the new ones mine will be worth more resale again! :o|
That is the ONLY good thing about the price increases!

Sled Prices

My kids test drove the new Nytro and said it was a nice ride. Seemed very fast (We own RX-1 Warriors) suspension absorbed bumps great and the boys liked the way it pulled the skis. We have a total of $9800 in both our Warriors (One bought as a new left over and one bought used) and I cannot see us spending $9500 for one sled (Does not matter make or model) Just seems tooooooo excessive for a 3 month season (at best in NY).

I respect your opinion; winters are short, your sleds are far from ancient, and unless you are worth a substantial amount of money, $10k is a lot of coin for a toy.

But like I said above - 9k (what people are getting base Nytros for) is NOT a lot for a sled in this day and age, especially considering what these babies bring to the table. See my post, see Yamanator's post. I don't like it - but it is what it is, and it won't be changing. Top of the line sleds have been 8k plus for a LONG time now.
