I am on year 3 with my Nypex and have always had the oil burning problem mostly on start up. If I start it in a warm shop and it runs for about 30 seconds or so its okay but the next time I fire it up blue smoke from the exhaust. I have no oil through the cold side into the charge tube but see oil coming through the seal around the exhaust wheel. I have tried numerous things with smaller restrictors and this year went to a 5/8 drain line, way bigger than when I started. After sitting for a few months this summer my cold compressor wheel had excessive play but never touched the housing at all, on the Garrett website it claims this is normal. Most people say their seals leak into the charge line side if the oil drain and my intake is always clean and dry. Is it centre section time, bad seal? Thanx and Merry Xmas. Shad

What size of restrictor do you run in front of the turbo?
I have a 0.8 mm or 0.031 inch restrictor in front of my 2860.

I just replaced my oil line and got it from Powder Lites, they run their restrictor at the bottom of the line instead of at the turbo. Dave said that it is between 28-35thou. It didnt make a difference from my old 35 thou restrictor. Shad

I run the restrictor down at the oil filter, not at the turbo.

Same here, Ive run my restrictor in both places, changed my size of return line, different oils, still cant fix my problem. Im pretty sure its not my oil return line now with going to a 5/8 line. When I got into my turbo I can see the oil coming from behind the compressor wheel slung around the exhaust housing. Many see this kind of seal failures? Shad
Hey Shad, you ever checked engine oil pressure? Buddy with 1100 cat is having same issues. His business has put 13 garrett turbo kits on 13 sleds. His smokes also with new garrett, didnt with whatever turbo cat installs. His sled has seen 3 turbos, thinking that was the problem. Kits come with orfice, drain line is clear. Told him to check oil pressure. Its 90psi @ idle, max is 29psi according to cat. So there is something wrong with his oil pump/relief. Its just an idea.
