Just curious how accurate the electric gas gauge will be on my 08 Vector?

I owned a 05 S.E. Yamaha Grizzly it is was terrible, it would read empty loooong before it actually was, are these Yamaha snowmobiles more accurate than their atv's?

Also, I was told I can expect in the neighbourhood of about 150 to 170 miles per tank when just trail riding at a decent /normal speeds, is this true?

My attack would light up the low fuel light and still have 3 gallons left in the tank ~ not good to say the least. But better that then the light come on and have 3 oz. left.

I refer to the Vectors in our group as the 're-fuelers', simply because if I'm out, I know they have TONS. Depending on what we're doing and where the next stop is, the Vectors sometimes skip a fuel stop, especially if it's the $$$ ones. I'm not sure the two in our group have been low enough to make the light go on.....

I agree but on my Grizzly, it looked like I still had about half of tank or just slightly less.

I was just curious on this one for the exact same reason you stated, does empty mean empty or is there enough left to get to a gas station or enough left to ride another 50 miles or so?

Thanks Crewchief, good to know.

I could also do that with my 95 XLT, no worries skipping a fill if I knew roughly how much farther to go until the next stop?

Some guy's I rode with had no choice and we also had a few close calls but with my XLT I never had to worry as I usually still had tons left ;)!

Always wish they had a mechanical reserve like a bike does. Must be a reason why they don't? My Phazer is pretty close, about 2 gallons per bar for a total of 8. Wish it came with a 20 gal tank though! lol. I hate stopping, it makes it so hard to get warmed back up, 'fitted in', and comfortable.

If your 2008 Vector is like my 2007 Rage or my 2007 Apex, you have 8 bars show up on the gas gauge when it is full. Both of my sleds hold about 10 gallons full(a little less for the Apex) Each bar represents about 1 gallon. So in other words, when full I can use up a full gallon and I will still show 8 bars. It is not until I have used 2 gallons that I will go down to seven bars, and when all bars are gone, I still have one gallon left. So if I am down half way with four bars showing, that means I have used about 5 gallons and have 5 gallons left. My low fuel ilght comes on when I reach 2 bars left, which means I have 3 gallons left in the tank. It is by far the most accurate electric fuel gauge I have ever had on a snowmobile.

When I had my Vector I've never seen the yellow warning light go on. Whoever I was with always needed fuel waaaaaay more before I did! The T660's I rode with did pretty well though...

i find the phazer to be accurate enough. i do agree budweiser my dad's t 660 touring does great on fuel. I need to stop first but thats only because of the fact that my tank is half the size.

Great info, thanks everyone ;)!

Mine reads exactly the same way yours does ;)!

My phazer isn't too great. Stays at full until just about 2 gallons are gone and the low fuel bar comes on with 2 gallons left....... and on a 7 gallon tank that means the gauge only covers 3.5 gallons of gas, or only half the capacity.
