First 50 miles yesterday (used two bars on gas gauge)

I realize the gauge isnt the most accurate method of measuring MPG, but I am encouraged by going 50 miles on two bars. I dont expect 100 miles per tank to be an issue. Of course I was going fairly easy breaking in the sled.

Don't baby it. Break it in like your gonna ride it!

Dont worry, I didnt baby it. I use the variable throttle method with short 2-3 second burst of full throttle. I would cruze @ 6000-7000 then burst up to 8500 then back down to 6000 for a while. Next time out I will pretty much use a normal trail riding pace. I wont hold it WFO for the length of the lake untill after the first oil change (500 miles)

When I was running the stock tank the gauge stayed on full for a long time. After it dropped a bar or two the gauge dropped fast. I was getting just over 100 miles per tank. I'm running a trail tank now and getting 140 to 150 miles per tank

For first run on mine the other day I had a similar outcome. 80 miles and had @1/3 of a tank left.

14-15 mpg this weekend on my new 09 xtx. The first 100 miles I tended to play it safe.. needed some time to get the feel... by 300 miles.... I rode it like I stole it.... .... It seems to get pretty reliably 14-15 mpg so far....

I have to admit... the motor is very nice and strong... It suprized me.. I can't believe it's a four stroke? !

Glad I added the trailtank....100 miles just isn't enough!
