I get terrible mileage - about 8-11 - is there a fix that anyone knows of for this - i heard you can go into a mode from the gage and change the fuel mapping - ?? - the back of my sled is all black like ive been burning coal for fuel. I let off the gas and shoot flames out the exhaust from the unburnt fuel. my srx get much better mileage.

How did your SRX ride in the big bumps? I'm sure it sucked. All you people do is complain and it's getting annoying!!!!!

Complain - im going to wawa this week and want to make it from point to point - then dont respond - your the one complaining - not i - when every one else is getting at least 13 plus and im getten 7-8 theres a problem. maybe you should stick to the dirt and quit complaining.
experts - ya right - they dont even know what I'm talken about - they cant even spell fueal mapppingg. If I do it - i know it will be done (right) - They will do the same thing Im going to do - read the how 2 section of the tec book and try it - I want to be able to under stand and change it if it myself.

For full fuel adjustability I believe you are limited to the dealer and their equipment...the CO settings through the gauge pod will not give you infinite adjustability for all rpm ranges.

About the only thing you can do yourself is make sure all the sensors are plugged in. Have you had your airbox off? Did you plug the sensor back in? See if thats all plugged in then as much as I like to do all the work myself, on this I would go to the dealer

I dont know how you could adjust the fuel, but mine acts real rich on top,as does my boys and my friend gt all 3 will blow flames out the pipes for 5-10 seconds at wfo and when you are letting off throttle, but my gas light has never come on in such short milage as yours, there has been times when i got 9.5 to 10 at its worst, but never 7-8 and generally around 11-12 average, good luck and keep us posted as to what your dealer will do about it..waldo1 said:I get terrible mileage - about 8-11 - is there a fix that anyone knows of for this - i heard you can go into a mode from the gage and change the fuel mapping - ?? - the back of my sled is all black like ive been burning coal for fuel. You are burning WAY too much fuel, that is a guarentee!. Black smoke and soot all over the sled, that is a sure indacation of this. If you let off the gas and this happens and it doesnt matter what throttle position you are at and it shoots flames, then you are definately burning way too much gas. Also, you should not be getting this mileage.
How did your break in period go, did you follow all the instructions properly? My friend had a moto4 quad and the rings were shot really bad and it did the same thing, sooty and flaming, but fuel economy was the same. Then new rings and it was perfect.
Just a thought
Either way, Id bring it to the dealer

Ok - heres the deal so far - You guys are correct about the dealer doing the change - they have to hook up an ECU to the unit in some special way with a ground wire and so on - i dont have the details but will next week - it is not a common adjustment and is not in the advanced type repair or update bible. he didnt have time to do it yesterday and im going to wawa today - update to come next week. I'll be taking some xtra chain oil and wheels - also wraped 3m electrical tape around the bar ends and a fiber washer - they work much better now + attack windshield. The dealer replaced all my small wheels with rx1 wheels - i wanted srx wheels - well see what happens.
Dirt boy - my srx rides fine (viper shocks) especially when Im towing my GT because its out of fuel. Srx long travel sled is pretty hard to beat - and i can buy 3 of them for what i payed for this thing.

I was up in WAWA a few weeks ago with my Apex ER. I got great gas mileage while riding the northern Ontario trails. I had no problem going 130 miles on a tank and still had a couple of gallons left in the tank. I can't believe guys are getting bad mileage with these sleds.

Update - went to wawa this weekend - left for hornpaine - smelled gear oil 3/4 of the way there - chaincase was smoken hot - added 8 oz. of oil and adjusted the chain a bunch of turns. had to add oil every 50 - 75 miles - and limp it into hearst - they didnt have the parts at the dealer. what a disappointment. good thing I brought oil - its pretty bad when ski doo guys are bashen ya in the parken lot - should have took the srx - at least I wouldnt have to limp it - pull it around.
