What would cause a gas vent line to piss out gas and be full all the time?Afriend of mine has an apex and went from 19mpg to 13mpg and found out his vent line is pissing gas everywhere.

the only way i can see gas coming out the vent is through expansion. filled with gas(cold) and sled placed in a warm garage. remove vent line from frame and run it up under handlebar pad. this will at least eliminate gravity siphoning.

It won't siphon because it is connected to the top of the tank.

The only thing that can cause gas to blow out the vent is OVERFILLING! There is supposed to be a white collar in the fuel tank opening. You fill the fuel no higher than the bottom of the white collar.

If this is not the case, then that vent line is connected up to somewhere its not supposed to be connected to.

I had that exact problem, I filled it up lots to the point you could hear it gurgling in the machine but still just to the bottom of the white neck. After the extra couple bucks I ended up watching it spill out from the overflow line onto the ground.

no it was coming out when he had half a tank left.He rerouted the vent line up around the riser for the handlebars and seems to be okay for now.

I took out the white tube to fill the tank to the brim and then like the others watched the fuel drain out the vent tube. First and last time I did that!

Its impossible for it to leak out once your tank is starting to empty, the moment your gauge moves 1 bar or so it can't leak out the VENT outlet is actually on top of the tank...I shimmed my front shocks and it lowered the front end by 2" and tends to leak from the vent when I try to overfill, pull up the white collar so I rerouted it to my steering column and everything is fine.
