I just got my Attak last week. I'm wondering what octane fuel to use owners manual says 88 or higher. It also says to not use fuel with an ethanol content of more than 5%. A lot of the gas stations around here are using around 10%. You guys with RX-1s have any experience with fuel problems?

Ethanol is hard on rubber and plastic parts of your fuel system, carb float bowls, and catylic converters on vehicles. 87 octane is fine and you don't need anything more than that.

I have 168,000 miles on my Bravada, almost all with ethanol. never had a fuel system problem. Maxdlx

In minnnesota we have 10 % ethanol ( 20 % coming in two years)
& I have had no problems on my RX1's or viper"s

close to 10,000 miles total on all of them

We shouild demand good fuel like theyhave in Europe. 100 octaine at the pumps................

When I was in Europe this summer, 100 octaine gas was about 1 Euro a litre. I think that is prety good for 100 octaine? How much is 100 octaine here in Ontario? Check out the pricing at your local speed shop or airport.

I'm comparing comperable fuel here. 87 oct. in Ontario does not equal 100 oct fuel......

sledheadgeorge - Gas in Europe are rated by the RON standard. 98 RON (reserch octane number) equals 92-93 MON (motor octane number). So a direct comparison between europe and US will not be correct. I'm guessing that RON 100 octane in Europe will equal 93-94 in US.
