What is the gearing in the new Apex? Can it pull the stock gearing? Is it over geared or under geared, for snow conditions and not drag racing.

hi... I can give you the gearing for the Attak it is 23 top gear and 38 bottom gear. I think the Apex will use 1 size larger top gear due to the shorter track but one of the other guys can say for sure. I have had to gear down every single Yamaha I have ever owned. Most of my riding is on lakes and woods roads and swamps. Very little trail riding or drag racing. I have already geared down my Attak to 22-39 so I will be all set to go come snow fall. I like the lower gearing for much less belt slipping when starting out or moving slow in the woods or swamps. Just remember to put a magic marker line on the primary and after your sled is broke in do sevaral runs working up to a full speed run and check to see how far the belt is riding up on the primary by noticeing how much marker is worn off. Yamaha's seem to always be geared a little steep for normal ripping around. :flag:

Hauck is installing one of their clutch kits that are suppose to give me 4-5 sled lenghts in a 1000 feet. If I gear down one tooth, it should be a rocket out of the hole, then right??????

Crazy

The Apex is geared down compared to the RX-1... and because of the lower gearing and more horsepower should pull a higher top speed on snow!

What about 660 ft? Will it be the same? I mean, I know on my old sled, with my Cudney Clutch kit I gained 4-5 sled lenghts right out of the hole and 5-6 if I punched during mid range? I want to see what Allen and BBY have instore for our new Apexs?

I know allen said they are clutched very well out of the box.. but he is getting close to 8 more hp with tuning and engine mods

Gearing down on the RX-1 didn't show any real results in my testing, if anything it slowed the sled down. I haven't had adequate time to do any tests on the Apex gearing yet in trial form.

When I picked up the sled, I asked them EXACTLY what this clutch is suppose to do. Their first reply was they weren't really sure
The tech did say it will backshift much faster and brought my engagement r's down to about 4000. I'm new to the four stroke world, but when I unloaded it off of the trailer and moved it to my little shop, all I did was feather the gas and the skis came up and I tilled a 6' piece of the grass.

I don't know. I do have the stock helix and spring. (Which is all the kit was) after I had to ask for it. They replied, usually the customer don't want the stock stuff. For 9 grand, I'm taking everything that came in the crate. LOL

We'll see how she does. I have to learn about sleds all over again. :?
