I am putting reverse on my sled and noticed i have a 22gear on top and a 39 on bottom with a 70 chain. Trying to decide if i should go with the stock 21 top gear and 68 chain or stick with the 22? Also the severe angle of the chain around the tensioner worries me. Is this normal?

I would stay with the 22.That puts you at a 1.77 ratio.21 top gear is a 1.86 ratio. You will get more top end with no bottom end loss.Nytros are geared kinda low from the factory.I just went from a 21 to 22.I think the perfect ratio for a short track nytro would be 22/38 1.73 ratio.Too bad the lower gear costs a lot more then the upper gear.Anything higher then that and im pretty sure you would start to lose a little bottom end but I could be wrong.

I found this in an old post that scared me.
"Not sure of the part numbers, but the stock gearing is 21T upper and 39T lower. Most would think you can just throw a 22T upper for more top end. However, a longer chain is required to do this. YAMAHA DOES NOT RECOMMEND THAT SET-UP. That chain is too long and requires too much adjuster bolt to snug up the chain. I found out the hard old school way. I ended up going to a 38T lower sprocket to allow the use of the stock 68L chain and new 22T upper gear... Admittingly, a pain in the #*$&@ and wallet. In my opinion, not worth it.. Didnt really gain that much. I have had to relearn and relearn, leave it alone and enjoy the ride."
