I found this in an old post that scared me.
"Not sure of the part numbers, but the stock gearing is 21T upper and 39T lower. Most would think you can just throw a 22T upper for more top end. However, a longer chain is required to do this. YAMAHA DOES NOT RECOMMEND THAT SET-UP. That chain is too long and requires too much adjuster bolt to snug up the chain. I found out the hard old school way. I ended up going to a 38T lower sprocket to allow the use of the stock 68L chain and new 22T upper gear... Admittingly, a pain in the #*$&@ and wallet. In my opinion, not worth it.. Didnt really gain that much. I have had to relearn and relearn, leave it alone and enjoy the ride."
