I only get 10 to 12 mpg with my Attak. Also it runs way too rich. The Engine has a lot of mid range tourque.
Will some one every build a two stage clutch so you can run the thing in economy mode and keep the rpm's down for good fuel economy.
Then put the thing in Performance Mode for higher rpms when you want to show up your buddies...
I think Yamaha is on the right track with the New Nytro. More CC's less RPMS. Remember they eliminated gear reduction gears to turn the clutch slower than the engine turns by what 10% or 20 %
For trail riding the Genesis Extreme motor could easliy cruise at much lower rpm's then the clutch is set up for?
Does Olav Aaen look at this web site? Everyone is making after market clutch kits with stiffer springs and Teflon coated helixes...

I get 15 MPG on stockers. What you are looking for is stock clutch setup.

14mpg is probably the least I ever got, 17 the best. Before I bought the sled I did expect around 20 based on what I HEARD about Rx1s but I'm not complaining.

Ok I get 10 MPG with my Attak riding hard and 12 MPG riding really easy. I weigh 150# plus winter gear.
I said it runs way too rich and it runs way too Rich.. The clutch was bone stock set up until the last day we had any snow and I was testing a new set up that defiantly grips the belt better than stock.
With the stock clutch my belt was slipping.

some 4 cylinders get better mileage than others - and i wish i knew why - we triied sinking the carbs (efi - whatever) cause they were way off - no change - played with plugs and gap (not sure why) - no change - took it to the dealer - no solution - buy a mxz x is my answer to the problem.
- but if ya run it wide open for a while and let off the gas - she blows out flames - pretty cool -

The flames blowing out is most likely an exhaust leak. I just finished fixing my exhaust leak because I had the same problem. The donut gaskets between the exhaust joint and the headers were all pretty much done. The "donut" gaskets are about $15 each and take 3 or 4 hours to replace if you are inexperienced at changing them.

Ditto to Soutner's post. Mine did the same thing for 2 trips this winter. Tore it apart at the last TY ride and found a blown donut. Mine actuallyu cracked the clamp that hods the 2 pipes and the gasket. Yamaha covered it under warranty

I get better mileage that just about every other sled I ride with. Thats good enough for me, after all, it is a toy I only get to play with a few times a year!
