I have a question. We now have 3 03 RX1's in camp and the new 1 we picked up I just did the 167.5 main jets with silver springs and modded the air box,10 ek's plugs last night. While running it takes off it will run up to 9 RPM then mid range strong running up to 9.500 but that's it. The second one does the same thing. On the other hand the one I ride hits 9.800 on take off climbing too 10.300 that seem to be the sweet spot for these sleds. I'd also like to note the carbs were cleaned and synced. My sled does have 165 jets, heavy hitters and geared down one tooth. Is there something I'm missing to get the rpms up on these 2 sleds? Clutching? Thanks

Your jetting sounds very rich with just airbox mods. That could be bringing down rpm,s as a result. I know a stock rx-1 can hit 10k rpm,s easily with stock clutching.

So do we need to install the KN filters for more airflow? Even the second sled with the KN filters is pulling the same RPMs at 9.500.

Ive got 3 and all of them jump to 10300 and creep to 10500 - 10600 with stock jets, 9's and 1 has stock clutching, one is a dalton setup and the other has Heel Clicker II with overdrive sheaves.

Here is what I have done on my 2004 Warrior:

Primary Clutch: OSO spring, 14.5 mm rollers
Secondary Clutch: Silver Spring @70 degrees, shimmed with 5/16 lock washers.
Engine: 4 TPI valves with 160 main jets, Green Holtzman Springs, NGK CR10EK Spark Plugs

With OSO Primary spring and stock clutch I would see 10500-10600 RPM, engagement around 4000 RPM

Than I tried removing tip weights and I was up around 10800 RPM.
