2007 Yamaha Phazer GT
I took my 07 GT to the dealer for an oil change and pre season tune-up. I told the tech I though the exhaust sounded louder at the end of last season. I told them to replace the exhaust donuts just in case that was the problem.
The tech found that one exhaust clamp was loose and the other one was missing the bolt completely. The exhaust gasses had started to destroy the heat shield but no damage to the pipes.
I know the previous owner had taken the sled back to the dealer (different dealer) due a "loud" exhaust (I have all the service records and paperwork from the original owner) but it didn't list what work was done.
At least I will have peace of mind this season!

Yes, they tend to get loose. I check it every season along with the heat shields. This season I am trying something new for the heat shields. I hope they last longer this time.
