Where are you from, (put it in your signature, it's a site requirement) that would help if we knew it was American or Canadian prices your talking about.

Summer is your best friend for buying a sled.
Last October my 07 attack with 6000 miles was $5300 and I thought that was plenty due to stuff I had to do.....almost wish I would have spent a couple grand more for a low milage 08. Sounds like this is a nice sled, but this late in the season, I think he is a grand high IMO.

I got my 06 Attak with 994 miles on it last fall for $5200...Yeah, it was a steal =)
But for a sled with 6000 miles on it, $5200-5500 is right around where it should be.

I just sold an 06 APEX GT in MINT condition with many mods and only 2800 miles $6500.00. IMO 6.5K for the sled you are looking at is too high especially this time of year. Tell him 5500 and if he balks, look for a newer sled as you will find one and may even have fewer miles and some after market mods. Economy sucks and is a buyers market.........

Price sounds high to me. Last month my son bought a 07 Attak GT with 3,300 miles for $5600. No extras other than a cover but in great condition.

I agree with this statement. Have over $4000 in this sled in the last 3 years.sleddog66 said:6000 miles is where I got my 07 Attak. There are so many thing that MAY need attention if previous owner just neglected, that a couple thousand dollars is easy to spend fast on maintainance. The skid may develop cracks, but fixed with beef up kit. Hifax issues may develop which require larger wheels, or drop down brackets. Exhaust donuts may be shot. Frt end bushings, skid bushings, and str bushings may be shot...all have upgrade versions available.hand warmers may need yamaheaters to be warm. track may be getting bad. All driveline bearing may need attention. Driveshafts are known to break at that milage. You might consider a rear cooler if riding in less than ideal snow. Many don't like factory skiis. The list goes on. Don't get me wrong, I love my attak, it is the best sled that I have ever owned.....but when people talk about yamaha reliabilty, they are talking about the engine. The rest of the sled is no better, or maybe even worse than some of the other brands(I came from a polaris background). My piont is that 6000 mi or 7000 mi seems to be a big point where a lot of maintanance is required, if not previosly done. I will have $2500 in maintainance by the end of the summer, but then I think that I will be in pretty good shape for another 6000 or 7000 miles. Do some searching on here. Every year newer, they were improved, but then again every year newer has a higher sale price----enjoy
At the same milage 10,000 miles my polaris xc 700 had less issues.
I still love the apex and think the engine will outlast anything out there but the frame and the rest of the machine will not !

The sled does have some issues but, it is all realative to HOW you ride. I have over 10,000 miles in 4 seasons. Exhaust donuts twice (warranty), replaced all the wheels, Bushings in the skid, hyfax here and there, and rebuilt the shocks at 6,000. To me, not any more maintanence then any other sled. We ride hard but, we also know the limitations of a heavy sled in the really rough stuff; in other words we don't beat the crap out of our sleds like some on this site seem to do.

Yup, typical canadian markup....
You should check out the rails on the Attak. The last bolt closest to the rear axel is generally the location for a cruved crack in the rail caused by excess flex side to side of both rails. It is relatively common amongst Attaks and Iv seen them in sleds under 3000kms, including mine!

Thought so.
If it's not out of the question and easy enough to do, I would check/look state side, especially this time of year.
Lots of peeps buy state side and easily save a couple G's compared to CDN prices.
Lots of info on how to do it and it isn't difficult at all.
Definitely my next sled will be coming from there, no doubt about it unless Yamaha and the rest of them start to equal out the price difference a lot more.

Take a look at some local prices right now in Canada ! Yes they might have higher miles but the used sled market is real bad right now ! My buddy sold his 2006 attack for $4000 ! My 2007 Apex Gt is not moving at $5500 !
