I'm thinking about picking up a 2015 Viper LTX LE. I've been on a Nytro for 3 years now. First two years, an 09 FX with not much for mods besides Tuner skis, this year an 2012 RTX with a list of mods. I bought it with all mods already done.
129" Star Track Conversion with new front spring recommended by Star.
Newest Version of the 10 gallon Trail Tank.
Yamaha Wheel Kit
Schmidt Bros Trail clutch kit.
OFT Steering Relocate Kit
Mountain Tech Aluminum Skid Plate
Mountain Tech Extra tunnel cooler
Vector Speedometer
Digital Water Temp Gauge.
Right around 1,400 mile
I also just added some Snowtrackers. I like the way the sled handles compared to the 09, but I still don't love it. Especially when the trail gets rough. I ride my buddy's Doo with the R motion rear suspension, and there's just no comparison. Also still has that very heavy front end feeling. Pushing real hard in the corners. The soft snow the last two days didn't help I'm sure. I absolutely love the engine though. Can anyone give me some pros/cons to the Viper? I'm sure this has been best to death on this forum already, if so I apologize. I gotta be honest, the re-flash/starter issue has really got me second guessing buying the Viper. Is that sorted out yet?
Thanks.

2015 Viper LTX DX
I've got an 09 Nytro XTX an a 15 Viper LTX DX, I've done a lot to improve the handling of my Nytro, it's worked well, star suspension, split rail skis, lowered front end, bushing kit, hygear spring spacers, etc. The Viper has had no mods other than carbides on the tuner ski's.
The Viper has a better ride and handles better out of the box...no doubt at all. I personally still find the Nytro to be more fun to ride, if you like to ride it like you stole it, but the Viper is much more comparable to your buddies Doo.
I've had no starter issues, had no reflash, the motor has broken in now with 3000km on it and it will run 150km per hour plus in good conditions with the 137 inch track.
In my opinion, the Viper is much better out of the box than the Nytro, takes less $ to make it what you want, still has the awesome engine, and like every sled, it has a few issues (wobble bearings, starter issues, leaks, trim hub) but every release year there are updates which solve some of the issues. Everyone writes about the issues, very few take the time to write about the good experiences. It is an excellent package right out of the box, excellent handler, awesome motor, packaged very well imo one of these looking sleds on the snow.

I put almost 8k miles on my 2009 nytro. It was the worst case of love hate relationship I've ever experienced. Spent lots of money on upgrades and just never got it to where I wanted it to be. Well I'm soon to turn 37 years old and last season after getting back to the cabin for dinner I chose to not ride after our meal. Now the group I ride with we go to ride and put on miles. Reason I held back was the nytro kicked my a@@ so bad that day my back couldn't take it. So that was my final straw. Now...I found a leftover 14 LTX over Labor Day and sold my nytro. Before even riding it this season I ordered C&A razors, Ulmer clutch kit, MBRP trail can, hygear pro dual rate center spring and did the DIY air box mod. After riding my first 300 miles 2 weeks ago it's easy for me to say I will not miss my nytro. Now the rear is still a bit stiff to my liking so I ordered the cat softer springs and I have the rear fox QS3 shock on its way. All this and I've spent less on it then my nytro. If you are getting the LE you already have a great suspension set up. Buy it and I promise you won't miss the nytro.

Wow. Thanks for the info guys. The Viper sounds like what I'm looking for. I can't give up on the 1049 4 stroke. I just need better handling and this sounds like that package. Now to start working on the wife...

Main reason I wanted to give a viper a chance was the 1049 motor. I road a 600 Polaris switchback last year and gave it some consideration. After riding my viper a couple of weeks ago I'm glad I went this route. I just love the mid range torque of this motor. Fun sled to ride for sure!!

I have a 2011 Nytro and a 2015 Viper LTX-SE with MPI Trail turbo. My son and I ride together, and I still don't mind getting off the Viper now and then for a rip on the Nytro - love the motor and clutching on that machine. But there is a serious upgrade in ride in favour of the Viper. You won't regret it.
