First off I would like to say great site guys!! I currently have an 05 M7 153 with about 1500 miles on it. I would really like a RX-1 mtn or Apex. Something I can ride stock this year and Turbo next year. I found a guy who wants to trade me his 03 RX-1 w/ 900 miles and a 151 track. I want to know if you guys think this is a good trade? I think mine is worth a little more than his, but his looks in great shape. Would I be happy going from a M7 to a RX-1. Anyone else wanna trade for an M7?

PS I'm more of a boondocker than a hillclimber.

Well, you're trading for something that weighs more, BUT, if you turbo it next year, you will definitely find that power overcomes weight. You might also want a better skid. Oh, and if it doesn't have it, you want to make sure to get the updated float bowls for the RX1, otherwise it might cut out from time to time at the worst possible moment.

I have ridden both sleds. A M-7 is a way better boondocking sled then a RX1 mtn. You can lighten up the yammie 40-50 pounds but it still feels bulky. After a turbo tho the sled becomes a lot easier to ride cus the power really overcomes the weight. It is actually a lot better thru the trees & for hillclimbing...."fagetaboutit!!! For boondocking tho tuff to beat a M7.

I don't think I would do an even trade. I did a little research and mine is worth about 1000-1500 more. But I would like a sled I can put a Turbo on and it will be a good reliable sled that can run with the top of the pack for the next 5-7 years before I buy another one. I don't want to fork out money for an apex so I'm leaning toward an RX-1 mtn.

Keep the M and put a boondocker turbo on it... I have an M7 and a shorty Apex. I know its a bad comparison, but the M is just made for boondocking... (Just don't forget to get the M7 handlebar recall taken care of...)

Dont even think about that trade. Coming from light weight well performing mountain sled to a heavy poor performing mountian sled is not going to go over well. A stock 03 RX1 Mountain is not even close to an Apex mountain.

Sell your M7, find a left over 06 Apex or a low milage used one and buy that. You will actually love it stock this year and if you boost it next year It will be even better. This is coming from someone that has spent time on all three of these sleds. Eric

I won't turbo my M7, I've never been a fan of 2 stroke reliability. I'm looking for a turbo that has 4 stroke reliability. I want something that I don't have to replace or rebuild every 2-3 years and that I can ride for 5-7 years and still have a sled that can run the best. I would ride it stock this year and save some money and turbo it in the spring or next fall.

I like this idea but I don't want to have to pay the difference for the Apex. How would the boosted RX-1 compare to my M7?

edit: I forgot to add that he pays me 1000 cash as well.

$1,000 is not nearly enough as there is minimal market for his sled in the mountain community while yours is one of the favourites. The stock RX1 mountain just was not very good in the mountains add a turbo but you still will not have a great mountain sled due to the other short comings of the design without spending a lot more bucks. You could sell your sled and buy a turbo RX1, if that is what you want and save a lot of bucks. But as others have said forget the RX1 and go with the Apex mountain.

This is not a good trade for you. Even if you have to put a little money into a mountain Apex with a trade or selling your M7 outright.

OR...

Sell it and buy a mountain lite and TURBO TURBO TURBO
