Got my sled today, good deal?

I really cant wait to ride it. fastest sled ive ridden was a 700 xcsp so we will see. I have a feeling with my luck it wont snow this winter. wouldnt that stink. Im really not looking forward to insuring this thing hopefully its not too expensive.

Someone mentioned changing fluids. I would add to that statement, and recommend the sled be gone over and greased including bearings, then you know its good to go. Go easy for a while. If you don't have a lot of stick time on a big sled, things can rush up on you quickly on this sled. Insurance isn't bad if you have a good history.

Yup, Im 28 with a clean record and my two sleds and 700 rhino are on the same policy and they cost me less than $400 for the year and the rhino cost more because its got 4 seats. Find a good company and insurance isn't too bad...

Go over that sled carefully and look for any signs of mouse damage, dump a can of sea foam in with a fresh tank of gas, grease everything, go over your suspension carefully looking for cracks or damage. Change the oil, filter, and chain case oil... I wouldn't worry about the coolant unless it looks bad or is low. Polish up your plastics and aluminum and you will have a brand new sled..... Thats what I have done with mine plus the fat boy spring and shock revalve and Its just like a brand new sled with only a couple hundred miles...

I had 7 (yes seven) polaris xc 700 sp sleds before my 05 RX-1... I had a 98 that I loved, then a 2000 that I smashed, then a 99 because I was broke that year, then a new 02, then later that year an 01 for a second sled. Then an 03 and last my 04 blue xc that I still have and my wife rides. None of them compared to that RX-1. I swore I would never ride a yamaha until I blew up my 03 700 for the 4th time, Then I got sick of it and went out and bought an RX-1 and never looked back. You will love the yamaha... Its a little heavier but the arm pull that big 4cyl has is amazing...

Great deal. I got my 06 for $4500with 2300 miles, but I had to do a front bulkhead replacement. Not quit sure who approved the sway bar links sticking below this sled? Obviously not a snowmobiler. Do yourself a favor, set a limit for your first years farkles. The amount of aftermarket support for this thing is addicting.

That was a steal!! I bought my 06 gt w/1300 miles last Nov. for $6900, it did have the y.e.s. until Nov. 2010, plus some cosmetic addons.

i was looking for one like yours last year prices were from $7800 to $8500 (can) with 4000 to 10000 km a little more than i wanted to spend got apex for $6900 (can) 4000km and thought i did good i think you stole yours mine replaced 05 rx-1 you'll love the apex i'll never go back to 2 stroke

This is the first thing ive ever bought that i havent been able to use right away. You have no idea how tempting it is to take it across the yard but im not a good landscaper so I probably shouldnt do that lol. ordered rox 2" riser and pwermadd handguards today(actually i convinced the girlfriend that i needed them for an early christmas present hahaha). $185 a year for insurance. Can anyone help out with a good name brand for a skid plate or float plate? Tried to search but I never get what im looking for maybe its just me. And im gonna change the sno flap since i already had it get caught up in the track backing it off the trailer so a shorter one is definitely needed.

You can cut a couple inches off the snow flap and try it before buying a new one.

My buddy bought an '07 RTX for $5k last winter from a dealer and got a good trade allowance for his old sled. It had 5k miles too, but so what? There was an '05 Warrior in the local paper last winter with 3k miles for $3500. It was gone by the time I called cuz I wanted to snag it for my brother. You got a good deal, but I'm always a little concerned about toys that sit alot without much use wondering if they had proper storage prep and maintenance. But if you know the guy and are confident he took care of it, then no worries.

pretty much any snow flap you get will get caught in the track when trying to reverse. I have never seen a sled that didn't. If I were you I'd cut a couple inches off the bottom of the snow flap you have and save the money for other aftermarket stuff. You will just end up running over your new snow flap if you get one. Reverse on a snowmobile is really only for backing up in a plowed parking lot. No good in any amount of snow....

Yeah, I have to agree. The only sled I've had in the last 5 - 6 yrs that didn't do it was the '07 IQ LX CFI. That one I never sucked the snow flap underneath. But just to be safe, I always get off the sled and back it up while walking next to. After tearing up one too many snow flaps I said better safe than sorry.
