A question that never gets old as they keep changing. My #1 go to unit is my iPhone.
I really lke the newish Garmin Montana 600. Comes with a good base map for roads, and can take extra data cards for marine, topo, etc. it is a touch screen, great in sunlight, bulletproof, and has terrific RAM mount options. It's a bit small, but great for car/boat/sled/motorcycle/ATV.
BUT. Here are some tips.
1/ ONLY BUY FROM A DEALER WHO WILL GIVE YOU A FULL REFUND, NOT A CREDIT. Note Radio World will not refund. You really have to be sure and real world use is the decider, not the showroom.
2/ Toronto boat show is coming and is always a bloodbath of discounts by mid week.
3/ West Marine will beat ANYONE (in Canada) and give you a full refund NO questions.
4/Maps. Check out the release dates on the cards. Do not buy one over a year old.

Where do you normally ride Ontariosledder?
I am out of the Shwa as well and usually ride in Port Perry or the Northumberland forest.

If you decide to mount the unit on your sled, I strongly recommend RAM GPS Mounts found at GPS Central or GPS City or any other retailer. I bought extra clampy parts and swap the unit from my sled to my ATV.
