Went out again today, let the kid tour it around most of the day ( to get miles on it) while I watched from the truck. During the periods he came back to the truck to warm up ,I took it for some rips. The sled while indicating 104 on the speedo is doing 97 so the speedo is definitly out. This was with the Heelclicker 2 speeds in. With Supertorquers recommendations the sled was slower in 660 losing alot of holeshot. The yamaha clutching is close and looks like it will be hard to beat. It was too cold today to make any changes in the field ( -23 C) so when it warms up this week I will change it up.
One thing that does concern me is the snow build up under the tunnel. I almost had a heart attack when I seen the huge cube of ice sitting on the garage floor this morning from yesterdays ride.
After todays ride I looked under the sled when it was on the trailer. WOW, the bottom of the tunnel is full of ice. You don't wanna field race after a day of riding cause you will likely be hauling and extra 20 pounds with ya.
On a good note I raced the new 600 switchback twice today. 4 lengths inbetween every race, with my sled not hooking whatsoever with the new clutching and a tunnel full of ice. This new 600 is beating the new 700 switchback. Same guy owns both and both are box stock . Kinda funny.

I noticed the ice buildup yesterday as well. Unbelievable! would be nice to have in a heated garage after every ride so you could melt that chunk of ice off of there. Went riding today and wasn't impressed with the amount of water that drips on your left boot. My whole left leg from the shin down was completely sopping wet. when I took my boots off my sock was soaked! I think the battery on the right side blocks the hot airs path and forces it ALL through the left side right onto your boot.
On a good note, I hit 155 km today and there was room for more, sled should do alright on a lake. Had my first bit of damage today as well. Was playing in a field with 2 foot drifts and sled went on its side hard. luckily only the hand deflector smashed and nothing else. snowflap got chewed up in reverse, so I'll need to do a little trimming there as well. The biggest dissapointment of the day was when I got home I wrecked my new FXR jacket zipper!! damn thing only got maybe 5 or 6 uses till she crapped out. :o|

My sled was in a heated garage all nite and it took most of that to make it drop out of there. I'm hoping when I put my 1.75 on that it will scoop most of that out of there.

with the exhaust on top of the tunnel they have lots of build up, well my attak does also.

I always make an effort at the end of the day to pick up and slam the rear of the sled on the ground. It knocks out most of the slush and snow before it has a chance to freeze up inside the tunnel.

I'm hoping with the 1.75 I'm putting in and the removal of the protectors will aid in keeping snow out of there. I think the protectors are an issue also helping with the snow build up.

I dont think its anything to do with the ice problem on this nytro. On the last year phazer it was possible to close the two holes in the tunnel avoiding water to spread inside tunnel causing the ice to build up but on the nytro you cant do this mod.. You could probebly close the hole in tunnel but since the rest of the exhaust is inside tunnel the closing of the hole in the tunnel would probebly be a big waste of time. Really wondering what yamaha was thinking on when they did this stupid stupid tunnel/exhaust design. On my phazer fx I had ice build up to 50lbs last winter before i closed the tunnel. The nytro and phazers are nice looking sled when hanging in a weight in a showroom and showing "small numbers" but out in the snow this sled become much heavier with all the ice buld up than it would have been if yamaha did a differen tunnel/exhaust design, like the rx1, apex and rs models and also added som rear heat exhanger that would have heaten the tunnel a bit, making the ice and snow to slip.

The nytro is probebly worse than the last year phazer because of the tunnel protectors, causes the ice to really get a grip inside.. Changing track would not solve this problem. I added the 1,5 " freeride track on my phazer and it did not make any difference at all on the ice problem.
