just ordered a nuvi 500 and am looking to get maps for it. not opposed to buying them just want the most bang for the buck. looked around seems redpine and sledgps.com are most popular. at this point only riding in new york which i doubt will change anytime soon. redpine offers two maps for $40 but sledgps offers the whole north east for $50. i don't feel the need for the whole NE especially if the maps aren't as good as redpine. any comments / experience? thanks

thanks for the info.

can anyone else weigh in on this? the 500 showed up today. just picked up a micro SD card for it i'm hoping to load some maps into it and get it to work. we're leaving tomorrow right after work so i have little time to mess with it. are the redpine maps worth the money?

thanks

I just purchased the maps through Redpine but our trails are now shut down (warm weather) so I havent been able to "trail test" the maps yet. The map does look good on the GPS and I can see it working well. You can pick two (state) trail maps for $40 and for an extra $10 they mail you an SD card with the maps on the SD card.

I have Redpine's Michigan trail map, and it looks / works great on my GPS (Lowrance XOG). I don't have any experience with the NY maps however..
