I just had my Phazer GT out on a snowy road. I brought with me my Garmin Etrex. I saw 92 MPH on speedo and 76.8 MPH on the GPS. The math is worse than my 03 RX1. I'm sorry to bring you the bad news. I'm sure we all knew deep down that it was too good to be true. The good news was that given more room I'm sure it will go over 80 plus. :ORC

Holy crap. 17% off! That's just plain deceptive on their part. The 10% innacuracy in the RX1 / Apex is bad enough, but that's just rediculous.

The emphasis put on the speedo's accuracy is extremely overrated. Do drag racers look at speedos for exact measurements of speed? For the average trail rider and general snowmobilier, it really means nothing. If anyone's that fanatical about the preciseness of their speedometer, then the proper thing to do is rely on a GPS, especially when the vehicle is on snow (i.e. slippery, wet, spinning and everything else associated with its operation).

My job dictates the use of a GPS. If I were to rely on the airspeed indicator, I'd be waaaaaaay behind the ball game. Basically, when you're out rippin' up the trail, who really cares?

Yes obviously that’s all it is. I think it was easy to get away with in the distant past, but it looks kind of stupid now when all other OEMs can make it much more accurate. Also not to mention, radars or GPS’s are easy accessible to all in this day and age.

Its to bad the odometers are not calibrated the same as the speedos because we now can’t fix the speedo without throwing off the odometer. Would be an easy fix otherwise… oh well, I know I rant about this every year and it never changes. I'm done for this year and will post same reults same time next year. lol :o|

Dano,

I understand people's frustrations, but it's been going on for so long with Yamaha, that it really doesn't matter anymore. It's such a non issue in the whole scheme of things (at least in my book) that along with all the other issues that keep coming up with these sleds (how to break in, which oil filter, how often to change this, acid in that, etc, etc, etc), riders are simply forgetting that these things are just machines; not precious, fragile objects needing super special attention.

Geez, folks, lets get out there, put gas in the dumb thing and go. This internet is an extremely valuable tool along with all the other technology we use in sledding today, but it often makes me wonder how we/I ever survived on those old sleds back in the seventies.

Sorry for my rant too; I should probably just keep from posting like I do on a majority of the threads on here.

Yeah my buddy said all he could pulll with his new phazer was 78 on GPS down a road. I figured when I heard people say they were turning 90 on their dreammeters actual speed had to be around 75 to 80. My vector was showing 123 on the dreammeter and GPS was on 104. These speedos are way off!
