Rove44,
You want just the parallel harness pluged into your original '06 bars. Do not put the updated '07 bars on your sled as you will be no better off.

Dave,
You will need the sub wiring harness or "pig tail" that changes the '06 grip wiring from series to parallel. Hook this up to your original '06 bars and get ready to burn your hands off! Do not put the updated '07 bars on. The '07 wiring harness with the original '06 bars is the "hot fix".
Over the last 20 years I have owned several exciters, several v-maxes (600 & 800), SX 700's, SRX 700's, & a Viper before finally jumping on the four stroke bandwagon last year. All of those old two strokes had hotter grips than my Apex.
Therefore I know that Yamaha is capable of designing hot grips. I just can not figure out how a company with such great engineering resources continues to put out such a bad design year after year.

Sure are some interesting answers! Am I to understand that I can go to my favorite Yami dealer and ask for an upgrade for the handlebars and get one for around $30 dollars? I was under the impression that the 08's had that issue resolved and that it is the smae as the fix being offered for the 06's. Is that correct? All I can say is it sucks to be cold especially when you shouldn't have to be. Think I will give Kevin a call tomorrow up at Port Yamaha and see what he's got to say. They seem like pretty good people to deal with.

Apex dave,
I am not sure if Yamaha is still offering the update to '06 owners. If you can get the deal just use the wiring harness and not the newer bars. I believe that you can also buy just the wiring harness or you can modify your existing wiring to convert it to a parallel circuit with some cutting & splicing.

Rove,
Your '07 Apex is already wired in parallel so you do not need the sub-lead wiring harness. In Yamaha's opinion your sled is fully up to date and working as designed.
However if you want to get really hot hands simply put on a set of '06 bars. I do not think that you can still buy the '06 bars new from a dealer. You may be able to find a dealer who kept some used '06 bars from doing the updates or you can try the classifieds or e-bay.
By putting '06 bars on your '07 Apex the grips will be drawing much more power than Yamaha would approve of so you will not want to go past about half way on the controls. At 100% you will burn your hands!

You cannot buy the 06 bars from the dealer.. they only offer the newer bars..
You will have to find the 06 bars from a dealer (used) also try ebay..

Ok went out today single digit temps MY HANDS FROZE. There has to be some kind of fix with out changing handle bars. this is a brand new sled. The warmers were warm but not warm enough to warm hands. I'm not too handy with the electrical aspect of this sled. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Why do so many people not want to do the obvious..
You have two choices .. Use guantlets.. (which suck) or get the 06 bars.. thats it..
Ive tried everything else.. Handguards, taller windshields etc.. and the only thing worth doing is the 06 bars..

It's not that i don't see "the obvious" This is a brand new sled and i have to BUY different bars for it this to me sounds ridiculous. There are so many people on ty that someone could have a cheap and functional fix to this that even I can understand
