- 2008 Yamaha Apex LTX GT 40th Anniversary
Hello. I recently bent my handlebar on my 2008 Apex. I have ordered a new handlebar and started to remove some of the controls to get the new bar on. Does anyone know how the heated hand grips work? Is this something that just slides off and needs to be reattached to the new handlebar or is it something entirely different? If anyone can give me some advice as to how to remove the grips or point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

Grips themselves have a small amount of glue and a rivet holding them in place. The elements are self adhesive onto the bars. A heat gun or hot water along with patience you will be able to peel them of without wrecking them.

Thanks alot. I assume the rivets stay in place and I pull the rubber off over top of them? And do you have any suggestions for an adhesive to put the grips back on if I need it? Thanks in advance!

I just replaced one on my 11. The heating element was really glued on. I wouldn't count on saving them.

You can try heat gun, might save them. Call Kevin at Port Yamaha for grip glue, and if needed new elements.
