I plan on putting on a 2" riser so I'm sure they'll fit.

What exactly did they miss? Many people like the low windshields on their sleds. In fact all of my friends who I ride with have bought aftermarket low windshields for those that had high stock ones. Outside of extreme cold riders I don't see me needing a high screen.
I think you're just trying to justify it to yourself any way you can Impala not to buy that 06 you want hehe.

I know, but several complain on how Yamaha missed this and missed that. Of course there are little improvements along the way.

I really like the windshield and won't be change it but I agree, useless, i am thinking on the hand guards and have tried some of them before but found that when going to use the brake it always seems tight between the guard and the brake lever. I am also thinking that anytime I have driven a machine with the extended hand grips that they needed a longer brake lever. Not sure if anyone else finds the need to put a longer one on aswell or if anyone has done this and if so how did you like it?

It's a thing of beauty!
I just can't believe it can be any less effective than the 98 srx shield. So, looks like we will have to dress for the occasion.

If it gets too cold you can always use gauntlets which I have found to be good for long trips in temps below 10 degrees F.

My nephew calls it a dash cover. Just like the one on his Polaris.
