guage cluster dead on 03rx1

we have been doing summer work on the sled,including an oil change. pulled the battery and related parts, battery is good, and fully charged.i have the head lights & warmers working, main speedo cluster is dead?? fuses appear to be fine. we have the seat removed and the tail light connector disconnected? if soneone could help with this it would be much appreciated, thanks rich

could a realy cause this? we did a track change also ,could there be a fault in the sensor at the track bearing??thanks rich

Any sign that a mouse was under the hood? They can do wonders on wires.

You may have already checked this, but make sure the plug at the rear of the speedometer cluster did not work its way loose.

When I brought mine home from the dealer when brand new, the main cluster quit as I was backing off the trailer. That was the problem

Boy ,do I feel foolish Bigdog,you nailed it,unfortnately i did not simply give the connector a thought,it is inside a rubber boot & looked fine!! igave it a gentle squeeze & problem solved. It didn"t move much,just a hair! I will have to ivestigate inside that boot further,because now i have the orange triangle warning light on ( by itself ) Thanks to everyone that took the time to reply , much appreciated , Rich

update to my post about meter problems.we got some good snow last week, here in southern ont. rode the rx1 alot, had lots of weird guage problems. finally had a good look at that plug at the end of the wiring harness that attaches to the back of the speedo. It apears to be broken and wont provide good contact in the pins. My question is should i order the short piece of harness or does anybody have another idea. The harness is part # 8fa-84359-00-00

Not sure where you are going to get a "short piece of harness." But maybe someone out there will read this and has the piece you need. Did you try a Wanted To Buy in the classifieds?

The part# in my previous post is " the short piece of harness" running from the meter/ head light to the front bumper, iside the hood. The multi pin connector, that plugs into the speedo is damaged. I am suspicious the previous owner had a rollover at some point in time, & someone broke the plastic conn. when replaceing the windsheild. to rephrase my question, i was just wondering whether to bite the bullet & order the harness ,or if someone here might offer a similar experience. went ahead & ordered the part[ $112.00] I am 90%sure this is the source of my elec. problems, thanks, rich

I was thinkin' a short piece vesus the harness assembly. Anyway, ... Maybe if we keep this one on the top of the heap, someone will pipe up about having a wreck that you could get the harness from.

Did you try a WTB Post the clasifieds?

Hello Len, thanks for the reply, I guess i am just helping out too, repaying some of the good advice i have received here, on this site.No, i have not posted in the classifieds, once i found that broken plug I went ahead & ordered the part before the snow comes again! I probably would not have found it without this site thanks, Rich M
