my friend has a 03 RX1 and the hand and thumb warmers are not working. he claims to have traced it to the CDI box. the sled still runs fine and everything else works, is it possible to have a bad cdi or could something else be wrong?

I had that problem on my 2001 SXR 700. Replaced the CDI and the problem was solved ($400 warm hands!!!)

The electronic box sends out pulses to the handlebar & thumb warmers so yes it could be the cause of the problem.
