I just installed the NEW Star Series Handguard Race Flare to my Powermadd handguards. Part# PM14277. This will give me a little more wind protection.

What are the limitations on a 2011/12 Apex. With the new windshield it doesn't look like any of the wind deflectors will fit. Yamaha dealer said neither the Nytro nor the soft shell Yamaha wind deflectors will work - they both hit the windshield when the bars are turned hard. I've not tried it - does anyone have any experience?? I'd like to put a set of deflectors on my 2011.

I may return the PowerMadd flares that I just bought and get the smaller race flares instead. I am just not sure that I can get used to the look of these enormous flares.

I installed the Yamaha soft hand guards this year on my 2011 Apex, no problem with the windshield. If I get my camera to work will post pictures. Compared to the hand guards I have had over the years I like these the best. Your hands are very well protected from the wind. Hopefully I won't need my moose antlers this year when it's -30C.

the nitro hand gaurds hit windshield on the 07 if to turn all the way but the thing is you never do i like the nitro guards but the yamaheater is the way to go if you want warm hands. removed all hand guards and keep yamaha soft guards in front compartment just in case but havent used them yet yamaheater is the way to go

But they match the enormous windshield... sorry I had to say it.

When I was younger I was much more concerned about how cool things looked than about how well they functioned.
For many years I froze behind small cool looking "windshields" and thought that I would never have a large dorky looking windshield on my sled.
When I was younger I also thought that electric start and reverse were for old fat men and now I realize that I was right!
