OK, I just read a bit about the current post about handwarmers resistance series, parallel blah blah :P

All I wanna know, is:

Can I install the http://www.rsiracing.com/product_info.php?cPath=0_30&products_id=207 heater elements on my Nytro?

My left hand works fine, gets warm n cozy. My right does not seem to work at all.

Can I simply cut the wires from my current warmers, and crimp in the wires from these RSI heaters?

Done, good game, my hand will be warm, lets have fun and ride.

Or can it not be simple as that....??

An answer will require serious thought and probably $50. Less serious answers are free.

There seems to be a pretty good thread going on this right now. With my leadership and inspiration we shall forge ahead to the answer this most vexing of questions.

That last bit was mostly from the free answer menu.

Tell you what, you buy them, measure the resistance for me, and I will tell you how to hook them up... :tg:

How does that work for you? :drink:

Yes and No, it's simple but it depends on a few things. What you would want is a resistance simular to that of the OEM, if you are satisfied with the OEM heat level. If the element had say half/double the resistance you would find that the heat would be different in the grips and much like using the 06' bars the amperage draw could be much greater. More than likely the warmers are about the same (how many company's do you think actually make these things). You'll have to buy it then measure the resistance, remember they have three wires one is ground, then two load leads, one low, both combined would be high. So if you measure them you would want to tie the two load wires together.

You don't spell team with an I do you ? ;)!

I emailed RSI asking about resistances on their over the hook element.

Ground to hi, ground to low, and ground to hi/low.

Going to guess I wont get an answer in ohms...but...worth a shot.

EDIT: also got a reply from RSI. props! with the same info that ruff had supplied already. definately nice to see aftermarket folks being a "part" of the community.

ok just to finish this topic, and make it useful w/o saying "i figured it out" and not sharing...heres what ruffryder found and posted in the other handwarmer thread.

For reference, stock elements are 7.2 - 7.4 ohms.
And when paralleled are 3.6 - 3.8 ohms.

High = 6.4 ohms (rated at 30 W)
Low = 12.8 ohms (rated at 15 W)

The two elements can be wired in parallel (hi/low twisted together). That will give you the following:

In parallel (high and low) = 4.27 ohms

RSI grips - parallel high and low in each grip, then parallel between grips
left - 4.28 ohms (equivalent)
right - 4.28 ohms (equivalent)
parallel - 2.14 ohms
total = 92W @ 14V (used for comparisons)
45 W each grip
amps = 6.57 amps
