Hard start Apex

I've had difficulty starting my 06 apex on a cold start a couple of times this year. Temps were not extreme, in the 20f range. The fuel pump relay is cycling so I know that is not the problem. After the pump cycles, hit the key and the engine cranks but will not start. Repeat this process a couple of times with the same result. In order to get the engine started all times this has happended, I have to hold the throttle wide open while cranking the engine over then it starts. It will run rough for a few seconds then smooth right out. Sled will run fine with no problems the rest of the day. Only has happened on a cold start.

Had this problem is cold weather last year. Unplug the sensor on the left side of the airbox and crank at 1/4 throttle. Should start right up. Haven't had the problem this year. It seems to have cured itself?
