Buddy has 03 RX rear mount bender....sled works very well, easy cold sart...even if you run it for a few miles 10 minuts give or take ..it still starts well....but if you go 30 -40 miles and shut it down ...wait 10 minuts and go to start againg ...it turns over for 2 minuts before it fires ...and when it does it sounds flooded and a shot of black smoke fires out the exaust....
and when he stops he always lets it idle for a few before shuting it down to let the turbo cool it self off.....any idea`s...thks

Does he hold the throttle open a small amount while trying to start, when engine is hot?

Should do the trick.

yep.....its the only way to get it started...just that starter keeps turning for a very long time before it starts to gargle...

Does he have a water shut off for the heated carbs? I only leave mine open a very small amount to keep the carbs from icing.

yes when i push on the tubes collant leaks out!!!
can i shut the carbs right off? looks like real quick fix
if i can run with out heated carbs... and turn them on when its real cooled

Piped Bravo, You might also consider sending a PM to JonnyRocket (Jon), spray25 (Ray), or Silver Streak (Ryan) explain what is going on with the sled. Everyone of these three guys have at least 3 yrs of tunning a Bender Turbo RX-1. I know for sure that Jon has experienced similar problems starting the sled (after it sits a while) once the engine is heated up to operating temps.

Your buddy might also need to adjust the floats to 17mm (If I remember correctly) in addition to a coolant block valve for the carbs. Yamaha specs say between 13-15mm but, this was a fix that Ryan swears will cure flooding issues while still giving the T-RX-1 enough fuel to run without any ill behaviors.
