the engine likes 87 octane better than 91, plugs-NGK CR9EK

Why is the higher octane not as good? I've been told that it has less ethanol so would it still be better to store it with 91?

Engine is designed for 87. 91 will probably give you less power because it burns slower and the spark timing is not set to take advantage of that.

Yes for storage if indeed it does not have any ethanol it may be better but just adding seafoam or other gas preservative is all that is needed.

Thanks guys once again, I think i will clean carbs, change oil and plugs, and some fresh 91 octane in the old girl before i move away.

Cleaning the carbs hurts nothing but if it runs and idles right after its warmed up its not a must do. The move away part puzzles me are you starting the season or putting it away to some later date!

clean the carbs! if it still starts hard, clean them again. It is very common. no matter what happens, runs ruff, clean the carbs, if a headlight doesnt work, clean the carbs. this is always the first thing and the last thing to do on these models.
LMAO

i store mine with 91 and seafoam. during the season i run 87 as it is snappyer. guy suggested this to me that ran sport bikes and i was complaining my xt350 was feeling lazy. filled it up with 87 and it was snappy. sled tends to run the same way.

I think there was another post in which he said that he bought the sled for his father and wanted to do some work on it now because he was moving away soon. On an unrelated topic my dog was up all night with the runs (true) so I cleaned my carbs and I think she's good to go now (not true). LOL
