Looking at a hartmen 136 ext kit for my 07 apex rtx and would like a little help,I need to know the overall length of the sled from ski-tip to new rear grab bar and if the rear crossover tube for the side heat exchangers needs to be moved back and maybe changed to a upgraded tube/ exchanger? Also how ya like the mod overall from 121 to 136, I will be choosing the cobra track.
Thanks for your input Rich.

If you are talk about the heat ext you can just keep it in its stock place. I have had 3 sleds with his mods and love it. I have a pic of the cooler tube in the ink blow.

Rich Kay I am going to tell that I Extended my 07 RTX rails last year and it is a VERY BIG MISTAKE!! Don't get me wrong the ride of the 136 is awsome but the rails in there stock form are VERY WEAK!!! I bent mine 3 times in 1000 miles last year!! It eats up your hyfax and it makes for an overall headache!! And I am not the only one with this problem. (basic riding through the moguls will bend them!!!) I would recommend either having some stiffeners made up for the rails if you go this route or I am having Muffinworks make me a custom 1 piece set of rails that they have beefed up for superior strength in this application.

Wow you must have not had it setup right. Never seen someone bend a rail from trail riding only from jumping. I'm a fat guy and I can't bend them. Lol Using a set of stiffeners will help a lot if the are put in the right spot. The hyfax thing you just add a set of wheels to put where the rear alex was. In the end its all about setup. But then maybe this is more of a issue with other skids then the mono.
My brother and me have bent many rails.Like mentioned above if you ride extrememly hard you will bend them.

Apex 06, the rails on the 07-09 RTX are just not built as well as the Mono skids. I do ride hard but I also know how to setup a sled and these rails just cannot take the added length of the 136" On the RTX rails there is about an 8-10 inch space between the front and rear arm that just flat out has no structural strength to it. I was OK in stock form but once you add that extra 7-8 inches on the tail end then all bets are off!! Like I said I am not the only one with this problem and Jason @ MuffinworksLTD came up with the really good one-piece rail for this skid that is reinforced. If I was to know last year what I know now I would have just had some good stiffeners made for them last year but at this point my rails are shot and not worth bothering with.
I have a friend with a 07 apex with hartman 136 ext and had the same problems. The only fix was to use the old rail extension as a template and made new ones out of thicker aluminum, but the hyfax still wear out fast.

Yup!! Yamaha and Hyfax wear go hand in hand!! My problem was on mine the back of the rails bent up and that left a crown in the rails in between my idler wheel sets. I was cruising down a groomed trail doing 45-50 mph and my sled started slowing way down like something was seizing up!! I had to jump in the snow quite frequently just to keep moving!! Jason @ MuffinWorks said he has over 4000 miles on his beefed up rails and they are holding strong soo that is what I am gunna do. Haven't ordered them yet but I plan to in the next month and I will have to post pics so everyone can see the diffrence.

Yep - had the same bending problem on my Pro-Active skid. Rail extensions do their job and they hold up great. But the stock rail for the Pro-Active skid doesn't hold up well if you ride aggressively. The section you speak on in the middle is the same place where mine ended up cracking ... although it took a whole season of riding before the cracks had shown up. Therefore, the design we have for these billet rails (in 136" form) have extra strength built in.

Hey guys how bout a overall measurment ski tip to rear grab bar (to see it it will fit in my trailer) and with that feedback........ what do you think about a nytro xtx skid will it work ? I know someone has done it here on the site. It has to be a proven and reliable factory look, with no problems.
Thanks Rich.
