looks like i need a fuel pump ( 83R-24410-01-00) for the 88 vk and all single outlet pumps from yamaha are now discontinued. the nipples on the single rectangle (07-187-01) are too small for the tank line and the pulse line. can i block the extra port on a vk540II/III pump ( 8AT-24410-00-00 or 07-188 ) with no issues?

OR join the two outlets to get down to one line.

yes but scared it will be too much pressure and sink the float.

How does it look to route the second line back into the tank?

i would have to put it in through the vent line close to the tank.

yes but scared it will be too much pressure and sink the float.

If the needle and seat are good. Even extra pressure would cause it to seal off until the float dips. Just a theory.

well going to have to check it when i get home tonight. love working with the old tank as not much stops it.

just look up Mikuni vacuum fuel pumps and you should be able to find one that will suit your needs. I have replaced the fuel pump on snowmobiles, motorcycles and lawn tractors with their pumps several times for WAY less then what the OEM pumps cost.

You can just block off one port. It will not increase the pressure any. It does decrease the total volume but you likely have enough fuel with only the one line.
