HAS ANYONE TRIED WATER SKIPPING THERE RX1TON ?

Npoe not the rx1, But I have driven a few miles on the river in august on a viper. Alot of fun and lots of looks from passing bye boaters.

THERE ARE PREVIOUS POSTS SHOWING AN RX-1 ON WATER. WE SKIPPED OUR LIGHTNING-PRO TURBO WARRIER AND YOU COULD HARDLY TELL YOU WERE ON WATER VS SNOW. MUCH BETTER BELLY PAN DESIGN AND NOT PRONE TO GET THE CLUTCHES WET AS ON PREVIOUS YAMAHA MODELS. I KNOW ABOUT THAT TOO !!!!

Last winter I skipped my 03 RX1 several times without any problems. The skip was about 1000 ft. On my first attempt I was doing about 65 mph. The sled titter tottered from side to side on th skis (I was running doo percisions). The guys I was with told me I was too fast, they ran at 35 - 40. I tryed some runs at progressivly slower speeds. I'd say 50 is good for the 1ton, at 45 I started to sink and by the time I was at the end of the run, the running boards were in the water.

I had dad 04 out on some water i think it would go along ways was moving about 5 mph then just nail it when i got to the edge lifted the skis right up and on she steamed feels like itll go along ways like i said i wouldnt be afraid to do it on one. if i was anyone else.

Fred you are braver than I. I wouldn't want to find out what that cold water would do to my turbo if I didn't make it. I only do water when I have to and then I look for the shortest path. There are too many things to fix on a turbo RX-1 if you sink. :ORC

No problem. Just shift your weight a little further back on the seat to keep the front end up but she does pretty good on water. I have done several 800 ft runs on 2-3 feet of water with the stock skis and I have a 1.25 track with 96 studs. Dont get the clutchs wet. You may want to suck your front limiter straps up a little more to make the attack angle less so you wont be plowing water.

My experience on water with this sled doesn't give me a comfortable feeling personally. I was accustomed to routinely crossing water on my skippy doos but my Warrior in no way behaves any where near as well as the ski-doo on water. It will go across but like I said gives me an uneasy feeling that I never had before. It seems sluggish and does plow some. Just my experience.

my turboed Warrior pulls like a mule on water. Just make sure you have plenty of transfer on your rods or else she will plow through and get your clutches wet.

We run an EXPERT-X with 136 and the sled is quite lite because of the turbo kit. It seems very stable and it rides on the water with no effort- even going slow.

if your running a rear turbo make sure you have the plate that covers the turbo ffrom the bottom or the water comes off the track straight into the turbo intake and rite to the motor, found this problem at the end of the season with any amount of water on the ice of a lake my sled would spit and sputter .

Blue--- Our turbo is up in front of the engine with front exhaust. No water issues with it. We also sealed the compartment where the muffler was, and now use it for a trunk. Its our plan to build a rear heat exchanger for the floor of the trunk so it will be heated to dry gloves and stuff.

60MPH with Simmons skis and a 1" paddle. No problems at all. Went about 400-500' like I was on hardpack   :yam:
