has anyone trimmed the lugs on a ripsaw?

Definitley, the longer the better. It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

Has anyone tried the DURASPORT 1187 with long studs? We have used the DURASPORT .725 with 1.250 studs/chisels with good results for fun racing. (turbo sled application) It seems that the 1187 would hook up hard with all the surface area but it is still studable. Trenching could be a problem, but with the turbo you can spin the track so hard it doesn`t seem to be an issue. (at least with the .725 version) Weight can be a issue, but again with high HP it doesn`t make much difference in comparison to the need to hook up. I have talked with some who have used this track and really like it.

Fred....what do you think of the 136" durasport 1000 with a 1.450 stud?

Haven't seen the video out in a while of the guy who trimmed down a 2" powder track to a 1 1/4" drag track in 20 seconds with a pickup truck and a chain... He chained the sled to the tow hitch of the truck and did a burnout on the concrete for about 15 or 20 seconds and it was burned down to what he wanted...looked easy enough!!!!!
