Hi all! Have a question! I want to put an exhaust silencer on my 4-stroke sled. Am thinking about getting the Hauck Git-R-Dun silencer, the trail version. Only time I've heard it is on youtube. Sounds awesome, but it's hard to get a read on how loud/quiet it actually is. Been looking at the forums on here and have seen a lot of mixed reactions. Now, I am one to play by the sound rules. I ride in northern Wisconsin, the western UP, and the Keweenaw peninsula. Depending on what I hear from you folks, is the Hauck Silencer too loud?? Now, like I said, I would get the trail version. I'm not worried about performance. I'm not buying it for that. I ride with 3 other 4-strokes in my group and just want to do something a little different. Any help would be appreciated! If it would break the rules, I won't get it. I hate loud exhaust, have had it before, but would this trail version be too much?? Just looking for input on who's owned the trail version or who knows somebody that has the trail version. Thanks for all the feedback!! Think snow! :yam:

I have one on my 06 rtx, on the sled you don't hear, but it is pushing the rules(84-90db) but it sounds very nice.

I have one on my 06 attak, but i also have the headers along with it...i have ran all over wisconsin and have never had a problem..even went through a road stop in the UP last year and made it through with no problem..it sounds awsome and i wouldnt go with anything else!

Is it louder with the headers? I live in Iowa so the noise is not an issue at all. I seldom ride down here anyway. 75% of my miles are put on in Wisconsin. I've had friends pulled over with loud 2-smokes and that can get expensive.

Also when we went through the road stop in houghton mi my buddy had a sno stuff exhaust on his apex, and they told him he was too loud..they didnt have a meter gun but never said anything to me, just him..

I dont really know if ts louder with the headers..im guessing yes cuz the header y pipes are alot bigget than stock so i think it would be..never heard mine next to one with the same pipes without the headers to compare

No kidding? In Houghton? Been there many times and never been stopped there. Always get stopped in Wisconsin at least once each trip for people in our group having loud exhaust! So I SHOULD be allright if I purchase this?

I've been talking to Hauck about this and they can't really give me a straight answer about how loud this is. I want to purchase it, and should, but I don't want to ride once and take it off and have that money wasted because its too loud, or love it and ride it in Wisconsin or Michigan and get tickets.

I didnt really worry about it when i bought mine..but i love mine..i think it sounds like a 4stroke should..its up to you but i think you wouldnt have a prob just on my trips i have taken and never have had a prob.. I have drivin many miles in wiaconsin ans mich and i have been alright.. And im guessing that i have headers im louder than just the pipe itself.. Up to you. But i think you will be ok

I just ordered a Bohn designs air lid which looks awesome & is supposed to give give the sled a low end bark. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but there are u-tube vids of this to check out of it is of interest.
I would also check with Allan Ulmer, he has modded boxes, probably aftermarket exhausts & can asnswer any questions you have.

I checked with Ulmer and all over via the internet and phone calls. The Hauck is the only thing available. I'm riding a 2010 Vector GT. Bender said to call back in 2 weeks because they were going to have something available for it. I've been told that for 6 months.

silencr

hauck's are loud and if your on long trips it get's to ya, also we all know it's the noise that get people upset, so i run stock and it still sounds good, but i'm a older rider, and when i was young i had the noise.

Just got off the phone with Hauck Performance and got a few answers. The guy I talked to said they actually had the DNR come and perform tests for the trail version. They said it was close but passed. Of course I believed him and pulled the trigger and ordered it. i hope I won't be disappointed and also hope I won't get tickets!

Just got it installed and this thing sounds AWESOME!!!! Actually, IMHO, it's not that loud, especially at idle. I'm sure over time it'll get louder, but we'll worry about that then! Believe me, I was a little skeptical after ordering it. With the rear end jacked up and winding it up, it sounds a lot better the higher the RPM's rise. I can't wait to ride. Bring on the snow!
