Is it the pre 2005 Cat spring?A bunch of locals have gone to the Dalton white.
Yes its the old cat spring. It falls in between the red/white and the more stout Black/lime that i have been running for the last few years. Is it the pre 2005 Cat spring?

The Dalton Cat white is the same as the Cat green sno-pro spring. The Black/Lime is about 10 lbs more pressure low and high on my drill press scale. Wrap the White up 10 more degrees to get the added 10 lbs pressure.
The new Dalton V2 wrapped up at 6&3 is just as stout as the Cat white set at 9&2 and the black lime at 9&1, they are all within around a pound or two of each other with those wraps using Hi-torque rollers.

Soooooo, I have to ask, you’re back to the warm air intake? And if you are, which one are you running?I was out and put on 110 miles today. It was anywhere from -8F to -4F today. Very cold intake temps! I could not run on the 270 tune or the dash would flash deto even with a boat load of booster in it. I'm none too impressed with Klotz booster to be quite honest. Injectors are maxed and boost just too high for the conditions. All I could do is run the 240 tune and it was at 12.2 A/F at times too if the intake was at low single digits above F. Boost on the 240 tune was a bit over normal 270 levels and was over reving the 270 clutching! I'm sure because I'm running the CAI and 3" muffler and its flowing way to well and making good power.
Thank goodness for the multi-map! No wonder we are starting to see some of these machines blowing up. Can't keep boost in check with the cold temps and large mufflers and different mods. It'd be great if the ECU worked like it's supposed to and control the boost accurately in any temp.

The Hurricane CAI with a twist, I'm using a longer angled alum tube extension to push the filter right up into the front screen. Like I said using it provides more RPM and a leaner A/F ratio without the close loop active. So it makes more power even though it's warmer air.

Are you running a header? Which tune bundle are you running?
I have run my 300ss header tune at -3°f on 91 pump gas with 12oz of torco accelerator and have not seen knock light.
When you give a report like this without details it makes me wonder.

Sounds like you have issues!!did you grind the intake spacers or you have bad fuel!!!I was out and put on 110 miles today. It was anywhere from -8F to -4F today. Very cold intake temps! Maybe give Dave or Patrick from gap a call and talk to one of them about the tunes and send them your data logging!!! No sense making guys paranoid. These tune from hurricane, td and PrecisionEFI have been on the market since 2017 and have been refind every season. And are safe or they wouldn't be in business knowing that these motors cost big$$.
No doubt there has been mechanical failures it is going to happen. Imo when running big tunes you need to be mindful and know what going on and with the engine. Fuel, boost leak, factory defects, overheating ... but there is still a possibility to detonate
Living in northern Ontario usually in February we run Consistently in -20/-30*c weather with colder windchills. 90% of the guys I ride with are running pm and header pm tunes for the last 3 seasons and o issues
Couple of guys have10000km- 15000km on there 998. None of these riders are Sunday rider. All of them ride our sleds like they stole them.. (full out wot runs on 270 and 300 and run big speeds on some of our hwy like trails).
Seems like at the beginning of each season many guys get knock... I am guessing most are running last seasons fuel and trying full out wot runs!
I always tell guy after getting flashed to take er easy on the first tank until you can get a full tank of fresh stuff
Last year I was getting knock very often so over the summer I shaved the spacers and did not get any lights on my 300hp header tune and I held it for so.e pretty long distances the other day.

Really happy overall with my Winder also. Have been running the stock muffler maps, usually on 260 setting and the knock light hasn't activated once. Fuel mileage on par or ahead of all other sleds I ride with while packing substantially more power. Not having to buy oil or carry oil is great also.
Running stock clutching with modified stock weights. Rollers hanging in there with 6500kms on them. 24/48 gears. Haven't blown a belt yet this year.
I am going to split this clutch soon and replace the cam sliders with new ones as the clutch is slowly getting louder. One guy commented yesterday is sounds like a Volkswagon diesel, and he is right.

Man, the more I ride, the more I love my Sidewinder! I have a TD SM Jukebox Tune with Dash Flash (EcoTrail, PowerTrail, Max Spool 16) and GAP Ram Air. I have about 1,800 miles on this winter which has been nothing but smiles. About 6,000 miles total so far. The power is just so damn fun when you want it. It's such a great long mile sled that allows you to just cruise, but then just turn it one at the flip of the throttle and you are triple digits in seconds. I've been on the Doo 850, Doo 900t and the new Polaris Matryx and nothing compares to the front end on the sidewinder. The rear can be set us very nice as well. I can see how some people love the Matryx for the tight twisties as it's pretty effortless, but the constant darting/tracking of the front end was driving me crazy compared to the planted and straight steering on the Sidewinder. Overall, couldn't be happier with this sled. For me, it provides everything I want in a sled.

Not sure if this was a question for me but here goes!! LolHow did it go this weekend?
I didn't ride this weekend but got at least 20 to 30 text this weekend...lol
All from guy I set up with hurricane.
I have a tonne of with many comment about there sled run extremely well in cold weather.
Then I got the bad ones:
1 guy low rpm
1 sd 26
1 low boost pressure
1 cracked inner chaincase
1 with clutch issue (broken spring)
1 blowing belt (Never did alignment )
1 hit a pressure crack on lake and needs parts
1 asking about heat (running 180-185)
.....
Most have been resolved except the SD 26- and cracked chainscase
All these issues are NOT directly tune related but many times as a hurricane dealer you need to prove this to the customer. I spend a tonne of time trying to help each guy to resolve any issues.
I am a sledhead myself and when I see someone down I try the best to help!!

Sounds like a good weekend! Nobody having overboost issues or knock in the cold weather.
All the preventive maintenance we do on these sleds really pays off!
