Hi Mr Sled, the pics I think you posted from hay days, had what looked like a sidewinder with tall dx type shield w/mirrors built onto it. Can we get that same shield for our sidewinders. That is what I need, when I had my 2013 cat LXR it came with large shield w/mirrors built onto it,and I loved it,was this something Yamaha will make?

Thats a great question that you might want to ask your dealer. I am not certain of any accessories that are coming..

anyone know if sma-8jp96-11-bk is available yet? The black one in this post from haydays...

Those viper windows with the ears tend to vibrate around bigtime.....I have a SE stock window ordered for colder temps, I think that is a great window when we demod some SEs they were far warmer then the LE.

Also bonus is you can get at the ignition KEY alot easier when the tiny LE window is changed out.

What part of the site are those pics on?

I have a ltx-dx and am using the viper mirror package. At 117 mph I saw very little flapping of the windshield.

Which window? The low with the large wings I rode moved around so much it was crazy. In bumps ect too.
I think its called the medium height but its standard on the DX. The windshield didn't flap as others have said. The mirrors are from the viper. At 117 mph I thought wow that's no problem.

No I mean the LOW with wings....did you not look at the part number?

Here is the part number he posted, and I replied to his post about.

These wings flutter badly in bumps and at speed.

I like the SE window...got this on order for touring if cold.

This design is very rigid on SW, IMO perfect protection yet low enough to see over, I dont like anything impeding my vision, or distorting view thru plastic.

Dan, I would have kept that windshield if it protected my hands - which it did not. My hands get cold SUPER easy, so that's my problem.

Didn't look at the part #. Sorry I thought the talk was about a larger Sheild for protection. I also use the gauntlets from the accessory catalogue. Too old for being in the wind.

I have the worst hands, But the rest of me sweats bigtime! Most of my local trails are a major workout, very tight.

I have never run a big window for that reason, and I simply cannot stand an obstructed view, Same reason none of my motorcycles ever had fairings ect....Even the ultra low window on my cat, because it was painted black bugged me, I like to see as much trail and ski tips. I found the DOO hand Guards when they went clear to be my fave for viewing.

But for the hands, I fought this many many yrs...and now have it figured out. You need a thin glove believe it or not, so you feel the heaters easier, without having to grip so tight, which cuts off circulation. So I started 3 seasons ago with the BRP "grip gloves" which will NOT GET WET, nor take on sweat.....they are thin and grippy, hands heat up fast....perfect with normal style hand guards for 90% of my riding. Then when it gets below approx 10f(for a hi temp of the day) and I know Ill be running lakes ect, I just toss on my BRP clear view muffs....with those on cold days, you MUST turn heaters nearly off! Never had a cold hand since ive gone to these setups. Can even keep muffs in linQ bag if not sure of temps.

So now hands stay warm, and i dont sweat. The LE stock window I will run for milder temps most the time, and cooler I will use the SE. I do like the SE for access to the KEY with gloves on, LE window is tight to the key. When we demo'd the SE models, I thought that was a perfect window size for my liking. Tom had a big medium on his when I rode it alot initially, and it was driving me nuts looking through it, also lost 4mph on the radar gun back to back with SE....LE window should be fastest of those 3 for sure, can tuck in behind abit.

Dan

I have the Doo muffs too for when it gets single digits. I tried the clear Doo hand guards last year, but then it's a pain if I want to put the muffs on, and I prefer a cleaner look w/o the hand guards. So hoping the new Sport Mid will be the ticket for me. Only one way to know.
