Haydays... Who's going and what not to miss

Hey I got that weekend off !!! maybe Ill see you there ! Wana get a new coat this year , i should be able to find one there !

Haydays

I'll be there Thursday-Sunday. Don't know if I'll have time to meet at the booth at 2 for a pic, but we'll just see how busy we are selling parts. I am going to have 4-5 sleds for sale and tons of 2 stroke parts for the Vmax, SRX, and Viper for sale. Give me a call at 815-739-1965 if anyone wants to come over and stop by our swap spot. We have 8 swap spots all together, a 10X20 Yamaha tent and a Yamaha flag that'll be flying....

2pm Saturday I'll see you there! Can't wait, let it snow!!!

Should be some new gear to drool over ... Klim has a couple of new offerings that look nice, but as far as gear is concerned, check out the 2014 FXR Mountain line. Whether you're a flat land or mountain rider, the new gear is very stylish (and supposedly performs well). See: 2014 FXR Mountain

For those that are regulars at Haydays, do you feel like it would be worth the cost of a plane ticket and hotel to get there? Really looking to make the trip, but don't want to make the 11-12 drive from where we are in Michigan.

Looks like I can get a ticket into MSP, hotel, & rental car for the weekend for about $400 a person. Real close to pulling the trigger, just don't want to get there and be disappointed.

Wow the cost of a plane ticket? That's your call, I drive just couple hrs, always feel I get the money of admission saved +\- on gas but the people, sleds and start of the season dream has a lot of value. I think about all options I see plan purchases all year long so in that way I get a lot of 'bang for the buck'

So, back to the original question. What should a person not miss, if it is their first time to Haydays?

The swapmeet is must see for at least half a day I would guess. Where are the best deals on new clothes? Do some of the big dealers setup in the swap meet with closeout clothing, or do they setup in a vendor area?

Does a program have a schedule of some of the big announcements that some manufacturers have? How about autograph signings etc?

What about test rides? Or is that just plain lame on grass or woodchip courses? It may be fun to do just to say you did it, but probably not if you have to wait 2hrs in line.

One question that I was curious about, it sounds like many will tow a wagon if gathering plenty of swap parts. What are people allowed to bring into the Swap, and what into the actual show? Do people bring along coolers etc?

Thanks guys, Getting jacked for this event.

As you said, the swap is a big attraction for a lot people. Some come looking for a specific item, and some just browse for deals or the occasional diamond in the rough. With the swap, the old adage "the early bird gets the worm" applies. If you're hunting for some bigger items (complete skid, etc.), then a wagon or decent rubber-wheel kart is handy because there's a lot of ground to cover and you can probably imagine what it would be like to lug a skid around all day without a kart. You can always tote stuff you find back to your vehicle and return, but even then it can still be a hike.

As far as riding gear goes, a lot of what you will find will be priced fairly close to in season retail ... a lot of the guys I talked to last year said they felt that they could find better pricing on the web as opposed to Haydays. That said, I picked up a Klim Kinetic jacket (new, but one model year old) for $75 last year. So there are some deals to be had, but maybe not as many and likely not at steep discounts.

There is a bit of a schedule of events. The grass drags stick to a schedule of its own, and runs almost continuously during the entire time. But there are other things like the FMX show and sport ATV/UTV races, raffles, etc. that happen at scheduled times.

As for test rides, about the only things you test ride/drive are the ATV's/UTV's ... somebody correct me if I'm wrong. You have to be willing to wait in line for this, and sign a waiver of course, but the length of the lines can vary at times and it's really up to you as to whether it would be worth your while.

With regard to snowmobiling celebrity, you really never know who you'll run into ... some do make scheduled appearances at OEM and aftermarket tents, or at their own trailers. And I imagine most, if not all, are more than willing to give autographs.

Aside from this, there is more to see than you can imagine. Most people don't get around to seeing everything in one day. The atmosphere is a bit like a county fair, only that everyone there is pretty much a sled enthusiast.
