Looking for someone in IL. who has done their own head shim on their apex and is willing to give me a hand. I was going to have someone do it for me, but money is going to be tight. i need to save for some trips.

I have a thick head gaskets that are better, easier and cheaper than adding shims or stacking gaskets. I know many guys have stacked gaskets but that is not the way to do it correctly. When you stack gaskets the embossed beads that do the sealing, come in contact with the 2 gasket surfaces that touch each other. That is not the correct application of MLS (multi layer steel) gaskets. If you look closely at the stock Apex gasket you will see the contack beads oppose each other where the layers contact. I have custom thickness gaskets for RX1 and Apex in stock to provide different compression ratio's, depending mostly on boost. If your only going to setup for low boost trail riding you don't need to give up as muck compression as you would for higher boost applications as you also give up some throttle responce in the process. Gaskets are in stock for RX1's with updated cooling at .027, .040, .045, .051, .060 and for Apex's at .051 and .060 which will give you 10.4:1 and 10:1 respectively. Look on my web site for more info.
